Yours for a Song

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yours for a Song was a game show that aired on ABC from 1961 to 1963. Bert Parks was the host, and the announcer was Johnny Gilbert. The program aired in primetime from November 14, 1961 to September 18, 1962 and in daytime from December 4, 1961 to March 29, 1963. It was filmed in New York City.

Two contestants were shown song lyrics with some of the words missing. For each correct word they could fill in, they won $10 on the daytime show; $20 on the nighttime. Two games were played per show, with the player winning the most money returning on the next show to face a new challenger. In addition, Parks led the audience in singalongs of old standards like "Bicycle Built For Two" and "Toot Toot Tootsie Goodbye." If a contestant won five days in a row, he or she retired as an "Undefeated Champion".
