[edit] Background

Girelli, Steel and Langford started playing together while attending Prince Henry's Grammar School in a small suburb outside Leeds called Otley. In late 2004 they acquired the services of Heaton, a friend from the Leeds music scene and Taylor, who was an old school friend.

In 2005 the band released two indie singles, Your Vegas and Flybuzz, the latter hitting number 12 in the UK Indie Singles Charts and began extensively touring the UK. In the summer of that year they performed on the unsigned stage[1] at Leeds Festival.

Following the breakdown of a major label deal in 2006 Girelli decided to visit some friends in New York City and after playing a few acoustic shows and handing out some demos a buzz began to build around the band. The four other members flew out for a few weeks, the band played a handful of shows and before long a record deal with Universal Republic[2] was signed.

[edit] 2007 - Present

In 2007 the band was chosen by Playboy magazine as one of their first "Rock The Rabbit"[3] bands. The band spent the rest of the year recording their debut album, A Town And Two Cities, with producer David Bendeth[4] (Paramore, Breaking Benjamin).

In January 2008 the band released their debut EP, A Town And Two Cities EP, which reached number 27 in the itunes rock chart. They performed at the Sundance Film Festival before embarking on their first US tour as support for The Bravery[5]. Propelled by this and the signature songs on their 3-track EP, such as first single “In My Head,” the emotionally soaring “The Way the War Was Won” (music video directed by Caperton Barnes) and “Troubled Times,” early 2008 saw the band start to turn heads in The States. Billboard says ““…Your Vegas does an admirable job of balancing theatricality and bombast with an emotionally engaging message,”[6] and Time Out New York chimes, “Big, breathy, gauzily emotive radio rock is the order of the day on Your Vegas’s new one, A Town and Two Cities. The Leeds, UK quintet’s frontman, Coyle Girelli, carries most of the weight with his Bono-esque wail.”[7] Named one of the Top Ten bands to Watch for 2008 by Playboy magazine, and hailed by the Los Angeles Times as making “anthemic rock that rises above the pedestrian thanks to Coyle Girelli’s soaring vocals."[8]

The band's debut album, A Town And Two Cities, was released in the US on April 22. In March the band played several shows at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. Also in March Your Vegas partnered with Pan Am for the release of their Spring/Summer '08 collection of fashion accessories sold in Bloomingdale's stores across the USA and the band appeared live in-store at the New York launch event.

Your Vegas is scheduled to perform at various major music fests in 2008, including The Bamboozle, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and All Points West.[9]

They made their network television debut on May 5, 2008 when they performed their debut single, In My Head, on Last Call with Carson Daly.

The band have already completed three North American tours in 2008. They have supported The Bravery on two tours and they opened up for Duran Duran on their 2008 Red Carpet Massacre North American tour.
