Young Township is a township in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,800 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 15.5 square miles (40.2 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,800 people, 687 households, and 520 families residing in the township. The population density was 115.9 people per square mile (44.8/km²). There were 756 housing units at an average density of 48.7/sq mi (18.8/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 99.50% White, 0.06% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.06% from other races, and 0.17% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.22% of the population.

There were 687 households out of which 30.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.7% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.2% were non-families. 21.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 2.94.

In the township the population was spread out with 22.1% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 18.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 95.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.0 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $36,713, and the median income for a family was $42,273. Males had a median income of $30,542 versus $21,528 for females. The per capita income for the township was $19,661. About 4.8% of families and 8.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.5% of those under age 18 and 12.0% of those age 65 or over.
