Young Apollo

Young Apollo was a commissioned work completed by Benjamin Britten in 1939, just after his arrival in the United States. It was performed, with Britten as soloist, in August of that year, and was broadcast by the CBC. The composer withdrew the work following this performance and the work had to wait until 1979 before it was performed again, this time at the Aldeburgh Festival.
