You and Me (TV series)

You and Me was a BBC television programme for pre-school children in the 1970s to 1990s. The first programme, called "Moving house", was broadcast at 10:45am on January 1974 on BBC1, as part of the schools educational television, and it later moved to BBC2 in September 1983 when BBC1 introduced a daytime schedule. The series' original intention was to teach children safety, reading and basic health and fitness. The show featured a mixture of human actors and puppets. For most of the series, the two puppets in the show were called Cosmo and Dibbs, while in the last two series, two more were added.[1]

The series had two theme tunes, originally an acoustic theme and later a reggae version by UB40 from 1984 to 1994

The series was popular, and stayed on air for about 21 years until it was cancelled in 1994. Originally 15 minutes long, it was reduced to 5 minutes before it was cancelled. There was no explanation for its cancellation.

It had different timeslots on BBC1 and later BBC2. On BBC1, from 1974 to 83, it was broadcast at 10:45, 11:25, and 14:00. On BBC2, form 1983 to 1994, it was broadcast at 10:00, 10:05, and 14:02, and, in 1994 and 1995, at 09:40-09:45 and 13:35-13:40.

There are no present plans for any repeats or DVD releases.
