The single was released in 1997. It was the first single released from the album. According to Loveless, this was the "signature tune" from the Long Strech of Lonesome album.

The song charted for 19 weeks on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart, reaching #14 during the week of 13 December 1997.
