"You" is a song by American punk rock band Bad Religion, featured on their 1989 album, No Control.
A fast, short song, it displays many of the stereotypical characteristics of a punk rock song, such as the speed, the lyrics, the musical structure and the issues raised. Despite being just over two minutes in length, it is still one of the longer songs on the album, with over half of the songs being under two minutes long.
The song is said to be about generally getting back at people, getting revenge, and how people can hate others. Many other meanings have been brought forward by fans, i.e. love, politics and death, and the main meaning of the lyrics is still questioned.
It was brought to the media spotlight when it was featured on the video game Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. It has since been used in many skate videos, and is seen as a historical skateboarding/hardcore punk rock song.
Almost two decades after its release, "You" remains one of Bad Religion's concert staples.
