[edit] History

YouAreTV was founded in November 2005 by David Dundas, Damien Dong, Steve Cordova, and Jesse Sanchez. All four met while studying at Boston College and come from different professional backgrounds ranging from consulting to film to finance. Originally having started off as a hardware based solution to video, the transformation to a web based high production value content distribution service came about and went live on January 10, 2006.

[edit] Video content

Unlike other video sites like YouTube, YouAreTV has remained focused on independently produced content. The site caters to more established and serious crowds of filmmakers and video producers. Content creators maintain ownership rights to their work, and YouAreTV’s agreement to host and exhibit through their platform is non-exclusive. YouAreTV also utilizes Creative Commons licenses, which offers simplicity for users who wish to share their works with other creative professionals. Compared to other video sites, YouAreTV has taken a stronger stance on copyrighted material, often siding to protect filmmakers and content creators.
