[edit] "Battalion"/"regiment" mistake?
This phrase "The battalion was previously known to be incompetent" makes no sense, as the preceding discussion is about the 31st Infantry (which means regiment). I cannot tell if someone forgot to mention a battalion, or if someone wrote battalion when they meant regiment -- but at it stands now, it looks pretty clearly nonsensical.
