From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

David Blaine Street Magic: Youtube Edition is a series of videos parodying illusionist David Blaine's street magic. In these videos, Mitch Silpa plays David Blaine, and actors Mikey Day and Michael Naughton portray Evan Ferguson and Peter Peszynski, fictional characters whom Blaine performs his magic upon. The series is widely popular on Youtube and the third video was nominated as best comedy for Youtube's 2007 video awards[1]. At the moment, there are three videos in this series.

[edit] Part One

The first installment of this series introduces David Blaine, Evan and Peter. Silpa's likeness to the real David Blaine is intentionally low-quality; his facial hair has been drawn on with a felt marker.[2] Blaine approaches Evan and Peter, and asks if they would like to participate in his magic tricks. At first they are eager, but after they realize that Blaine's tricks are not illusions, but real magic, and that his magic is damaging their possessions (like Evan's license and Peter's cell phone), they attempt to make him stop. Blaine then has Peter hold a sign with a paragraph written on it, and Evan, without looking at the sign, reads the paragraph in its entirety. He and Peter are both shocked and pass out.

[edit] Part Two

This sequel begins in the same way as part one: Blaine asks Evan and Peter if they want to participate in his street magic. This time, they refuse, and try to get away. Blaine terrorizes them with various magic tricks regardless, climaxing at the point where he appears in a home video of Evan when he was a baby.

[edit] Part Three

The third, and possibly final installment to the series begins in a way similar to the second, only this time, Evan and Peter threaten to call the police, claiming to have filed a restraining order against David Blaine. Before the police arrive, Blaine shrinks the size of Evan's car and sends him back in time to the age of dinosaurs. When a policeman appears, he records Evan's and Peter's names, and then, the camera shifts away from the direction of the policeman. The camera returns to focus, and the officer has gone, replaced by David Blaine in a policeman's uniform. Evan and Peter are both terrified at this, and drive away.

[edit] Memorable Quotes and Events

"What the eff?!" - This phrase is repeated several times throughout all the videos.

"I'm five foot ace of clubs... What the fuck?" - In the first video, when Blaine tampers with Evan's license.

"You're a time-travelling demon!" - The second video, when Blaine appears in a home video about Evan as a baby.

"You shrunk my Honda, you bitch!" - The third video, when Evan finds his car's size has been dramatically reduced.

One memorable event that occurs several times throughout all the videos is when Silpa, playing Blaine, stares with a wide-eyed, mystical impression, into the camera every time he performs a trick.
