York Regional Road 51, locally known as Yonge Street or Yonge Street Extension, is an arterial road that runs north/south in the community of Holland Landing, Ontario. York Regional Road 51 is previously listed in the Guinness Book of Records as part of the longest street in the world, Yonge Street. The village is located in the town of East Gwillimbury in York Region. Only the short section of Yonge between Bradford Street and Queensville Sideroad in Holland Landing is known as Regional Road 51. The section of Yonge between Mount Albert Road and Bradford Street is known as Regional Road 13, even though it is continuous with Yonge north of Bradford.

[edit] Attractions

Regional Road 51 begins at Bradford Street. This intersection features one of the two strip malls located in the village. The Holland Landing community centre and library is located at 19513 Yonge Street. Anchor Park is located just east of Yonge & Doane Road. The park features a 4000 lb (1800 kg) anchor (a remnant from the War of 1812), some basic recreational amenities, and a large forest. Yonge becomes increasingly sparse north of Doane Road; the houses are surrounded by the Holland River on the west and forests to the east.

Yonge Street loses its official designation as a Regional Road at Queensville Sideroad. However, Yonge Street resumes around 50 meters to the west and extends north for about 2 km. Yonge Street ends as a gravel track at the foot of vast marshland[1].

[edit] Public Transit

One York Region Transit bus, route #52, travels the entirety of Yonge Street[2]. This bus connects Holland Landing to Newmarket.

Yonge Street is officially categorized as a Class 3 road[3], meaning that the speed limit is under 80 km/h, and the average daily usage is under 10,000 vehicles.
