York County School of Technology

York County School of Technology, or "YCST", is located at 2179 S. Queen St. in York, Pennsylvania. The school accepts students from 14 sending school districts. York County School of Technology is a technical school for students who want help to provide experience in a career field for their future. The technical areas, commonly called "shops", are divided into three academies: "Arts and Human Services", "Engineering and Construction.", and "Manufacturing and Transportation." Each academy has 2 sections of trades. The schools colors are green and white, and the mascot is a Spartan.

In 2006 York County School of Technology went under construction and acquired two additional wings, which are now the Manufacturing and Transportation and Engineering and Construction academies. The Arts and Human Services Academy was remodeled during the school year of 2007.

[edit] Arts and Human Services

The Arts and Human Services Academy is made up of the following technical areas. In the Arts section of this academy are Culinary Arts(baking/pastry and cooking), Fashion Design, Cosmetology, Commercial Arts, and Graphic Arts. In the Human Services section of this academy are Dental Assisting, Health Occupations, Allied Health, Early Childhood Education, and Protective Services.

The Engineering and Construction Academy is made up of the building trades such as carpentry, mansonry, HVAC, and the Engineering trades. This academy also contains areas specializing in Computer Prgramming, Computer Networking, Computer Repair, Architectural Drafting, and so on.

The Manufacturing and Transportation Academy is made up of the following areas. In the Manufacturing section the shops consist of Metal Machining Technology, Welding, and Power Equipment Technology. In the Transportation section the shops are Diesel Technology, Collision Repair Technology, and Automotive Technology.
