York College of The City University of New York is one of several senior colleges in the City University of New York (CUNY) system. It is located in the borough of Queens in New York City. Opened in 1966, York was the first college founded under the newly-formed CUNY system, which united several previously independent public colleges into a single public university system in 1961.
Today, with an enrollment of more than 6,000, York serves as one of CUNY's leading general-purpose liberal arts colleges, granting bachelor's degrees in more than 40 fields, as well as a combined BS/MS degree in Occupational Therapy.
York College is also home of the Queens High School for the Sciences
Dr. Marcia V. Keizs, a native of Jamaica, became York College's 6th president in February of 2005.
Noted for its Health Sciences Programs York College is also home to the Northeast Regional Office of the Food and Drug Administration.

York opened with an enrollment of 371 students in rented classrooms in Bayside. In 1971 the college moved to locations in Jamaica, and has built and renovated several facilities since its inception. One of its early classroom buildings was the old Montgomery Ward department store, located on Jamaica Avenue. In 1986, York opened its Academic Core Building, the largest of six buildings on the York College campus.

Occupational Therapy (OT) - The only CUNY to offer a BS/MS Occupational Therapy program which is fully accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association. York College Occupational Therapy Program Official Site
Physician Assistant (PA) - It is the second CUNY to offer a Physician Assistant program (The first being City College of New York). As of March 2007, the York College PA Program is fully accredited by the ARC-PA (Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant). R. Parmet, Ph. D, Coordinator of the Department of History And Philosophy, was one of the original 50 faculty members, served as chairman 1972-1975. Has been teaching History at York College for over 40 years.
