The team kit for the 2007-08 season was produced by Nike and the main shirt sponsor was once again CLP Industries Ltd.

- 16 May 2007: Billy McEwan exercised his contractual options and resigned 10 of last year's first team, including Tom Evans, David McGurk and Craig Farrell.[1]
- 11 June 2007 Clubman of the Year Neal Bishop turns down a new contract and moves to Barnet on a Bosman transfer.[2]
- 16 June 2007: Captain Emmanuel Panther dismissed rumours that he was to join Gretna and signed a 12 month deal with York. [3]
- 18 June 2007: Mark Robinson joined York City from Torquay United and Onome Sodje signed from Ebbsfleet United.[4]
- 19 June 2007: Chris Beardsley joined York City after being released by Rushden & Diamonds.[5]
- 25 June 2007: Stuart Elliott and Paul Brayson joined York City after being left off the retained list by Northwich Victoria.[6]
- 6 July 2007: Philip Turnbull was signed after being released by Hartlepool.[7]
- 10 July 2007: Alex Meechan joined York after being released by Chester City.[8]
- 7 August 2007: Carl Jones joined the club from Hartlepool United.[9]

- 24 September 2007: Chris Beardsley faces a four month lay-off after breaking his jaw in two places during a match at Grays Athletic. [15] Grays defender Jamie Stuart was later arrested in relation to the event. [16]
- 27 September 2007: Free agent Russell Fry is signed by the club while Anthony Lloyd returns following a brief spell at Farsley Celtic.[17]
- 03 October 2007: Following the end of Stephen Henderson's loan period the club take Liverpool youth goalkeeper Josh Mimms on work experience. [18]
- 04 October 2007: Scunthorpe striker Daniel McBreen joins on a one month loan. [19]
- 05 November 2007: Alex Meechan is released after coming to the end of his short-term contract while York fail in their attempt to extend Daniel McBreen's loan.[20]
- 08 November 2007: Craig Farrell is voted Player of the round for the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.[21]
- 10 November 2007: York exit the FA Cup in the first round following their defeat to Havant and Waterlooville. [22]
- 16 November 2007: Russell Fry joined North Ferriby United on loan.[23]
- 20 November 2007: Billy McEwan is sacked as York manager following the home defeat to Salisbury City. Colin Walker, his assistant, is installed in a caretaker role.[24]
- 21 November 2007: Defender Carl Jones joins Gateshead on a month long loan.[25]
- 8 December 2007: Left back Mark Robinson is ruled out for three months after breaking his leg.[26]
- 26 December 2007: Caretaker manager Colin Walker is awarded the position on a full time basis following York's 2-1 home victory over Droylsden.[27]

- 28 January 2008: Chris Beardsley makes his loan at Kettering Town a permanent move while Alex Rhodes joins Whitby Town on a month's loan. Josh Mimms signs until the end of the season following his release by Liverpool.[35]
- 30 January 2008: Paul Brayson and Chas Wrigley have their contracts cancelled by mutual consent. [36]
- 31 January 2008: Cambridge United striker Leo Fortune-West joins on loan until the end of the season while defender Carl Jones is released from his contract.[37][38]
- 6 February 2008: York exit the Setanta Shield in the fifth round after losing 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out against Northwich Victoria.[39]
- 15 February 2008: Midfielder Russell Fry is released after making only five appearances for York. Having spent much of the season on loan at North Ferriby United he joined them on a permanent basis.[40]
- 18 February 2008: Midfielder Phil Turnbull joins Gateshead on loan with a view to a permanent move.[41]
- 19 February 2008: Winger Sam Duncum joins on loan from Rotherham United.[42]
- 15 March 2008: Midfielder Phil Turnbull is released in order to join Gatehead on a permanent contract. [43]
- 15 March 2008: York City fail to reach the final of the FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium, exiting the competition at the semi-final stage having lost 2-1 on aggregate against Torquay United.[44]
- 19 March 2008: York City's Reserves lose 2-0 to Middlesbrough in the final of the North Riding FA Senior Cup.[45]
- 27 March 2008: Gainsborough Trinity winger Chris Hall joins on loan until the end of the season while Alex Rhodes returns to Bridlington Town on a month's loan.[46][47]
- 22 April 2008: Sam Duncum returns to Rotherham United after an injury-plagued loan period but is invited back to win a contract in the summer. [48]
- 24 April 2008: Colin Walker announces that three senior players, Darren Craddock, Tom Evans and Stuart Elliott have been released early to find new clubs. [49]
