[edit] User Pages

Hello, I saw your message on Jimbo's talk page and decided to have a nosey! One thing you need to know about user pages is that you are not allowed non-free images on them, so sorry, but you will need to delete any of those. You can spot a non-free image by clicking on it and looking the licencing section - if it says that the image is copyright or fair use, then you can't put it on your user page. In general, the more you contribute to the encyclopedia, the more leeway you will be given to do what you want with your user pages. You can read the whole user page policy at Wikipedia:User page.

Finally, welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you keep up your contributions, especially those to the encyclopedia. If you have any questions then feel free to ask me. →Ollie (talkcontribs) 21:06, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hey, Joe... where you gonna go?

I also read your comments on Jimbo's page. Your userpage is fine, and folks don't get banned unless they do something seriously stupid.

If you are into Manga (some folk have to be, I guess) why not keep search all the character names, comic titles, artists, etc. you can think of and look over the articles? If you see something you can fix or help on, do so or post a message on the talkpage. Even simple stuff like correcting spelling misteaks (sic) helps build a better Wikipedia. Likewise, all the towns, cities and notable people from your State can always do with another pair of eyes. Hell, you could even check out if there is an article entitled Redneck (well, whaddya know?) and see if it needs help.

If you really want to improve your userpage... nick stuff from others that you find and like. I did! LessHeard vanU 22:06, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rename

Please see your rename request. Also, remember to use the templates to put in your request. --TeckWiz is now R ParlateContribs@ (Let's go Yankees!) 00:14, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedians

Hey, greetings! To answer your question, we're all Wikipedians. I think the most commonly used terms for non-admins/non-bureaucrats is either "editors" or just "Wikipedians". Of course admins and bureaucrats are still both of those things. We try not to think of it hierarchically--admins just have a couple extra buttons to push to block vandals or delete junk, for example. Hope that helps! Have fun, Antandrus (talk) 00:32, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deleting pages

Normal users can't delete pages - you will need an admin to do it for you. In certain cases, pages can be deleted straight away - this is called speedy deletion. To have this done, the page must meet one of the Criteria for speedy deletion. If the page does, there are instructions further down the page. If the page doesn't meet any of those criteria, then you need to list the page at Articles for deletion - the instructions are on that page. Finally, sometimes you can use an alternative to deletion, like blanking the page and redirecting to another article. If you want, tell me which page you want deleting and I will tell you which route is best to go down. Hope that helps! →Ollie (talkcontribs) 18:06, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the barnstar! I realized, though, that my user page might have made it look like I created a number of templates for which I regret I cannot take credit. I put them on my user page in order to have them easily available for my own use. The only two templates I have created are here.

Again, thanks! --Ginkgo100talk 01:38, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

And another: thank you for the barnstar! Appreciate it. Happy editing, Antandrus (talk) 02:30, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Thirded - many thanks! →Ollie (talkcontribs) 03:08, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

By the way, you left a note on my talk page that made it look as if you thought you were not allowed to use "my" templates. By all means, you can use any of them! I just wanted you to know I was not the one who wrote/created most of them. Also, they're not "my" templates. They are there for all Wikipedians. --Ginkgo100talk 20:40, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Usurpation

Hi, you've slightly misunderstood the instructions. If you want to usurp the account User:Jess, you need to leave the template you added to user talk:Jess at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations and leave {{subst:usurp|Name_To_Usurp|Current_Name}} ~~~~ at User talk:Jess. [edit] Templates

Hey, its Garfunkle20 here. Sorry I can't log in, somethings up with it. Anyways, no. I don't know how to create a template. I tried looking here, but it was confusing. If you don't mind, can you tell me (or direct me) to a page that could tell me how to make them? Thanks a bunch. Garfunkle20

Hello again! Have you read Help:Template? That should explain things better than I ever will. Drop by my talk page if that's still no help - I've created a few simple templates but nothing complicated so I might be able to give you a hand. →Ollie (talkcontribs) 08:10, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the help guys. I'll read the page and the quick guide I saw there and attempt to create my own =p And thanks for the Barnstar Joe *gives thumbs up* --Garfunkle20 11:02, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Archives

First make a link to a subpage of your user talk, by adding something like "/Archive 1" to the end of it, so you get something like User talk:Joe Jacard/Archive 1. Then just click the red link, create the page and copy and paste your old messages in. You might want to make your own copy of User:Ollie/UTM (again, just copy and paste it to somewhere like User:Joe Jacard/UTM), then you can edit your version to say what you like, add extra archives, etc. →Ollie (talkcontribs) 03:03, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
