I grew up here. It is 90 minutes to Omaha and 2.5 hours to Des Moines at least if you drive anywhere near the speed limit.

One note: People from this area of Iowa speak slightly differently with almost no trace of accent but use some interesting words. One of my favorites is kittywampus. Which means the corner across from this corner. But can be used to describe pretty much any location away from a person that is not in a 90 or 180 degree line from the current location.
