Tennisdude92 thinks Minagawa's current age should be included in this article. I disagree because it requires daily maintainance. Anyone have any comments? Georgia guy 22:14, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually, there is a template for that. The template just requires that the birth month, day and year be entered, and it outputs the age. Using the template, I can say that currently she is &0000000000000115.000000115 years, &0000000000000159.000000159 days old. To paste this into the article, just copy {{age in years and days|1893|1|4}}.

Since we are talking about the oldest living person in the world, you can only update her age when you have confirmation of her being alive at the time. Updates based on the assumption "alive until reported otherwise" are not acceptable. --Anshelm '77 11:55, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

I didn't like the wording 'since at least Carrie White'. It should have been 'at most' because if it was Jeanne Calment then it would have been later. Any idea what she died of? Heart attack? Pneumonia? My wiki skills aren't great, I don't know how to link to a footnote or whatever the style guide is.   • Should she be referred to as Yone or as Minagawa on second reference? I'm not sure which is her surname.
  • Can the terms "ascension" and "reign" be substituted with something more accurate or respectful? Ascension has connotations of ascending to heaven after death. And I know "reigning record-holder" is common usage but its use does make it sound like she is exercising king-like authority. Canuckle 19:37, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Her last name would be Minagawa. Also, I think "ascension" and "reign" are perfectly suitable. As you yourself said, they are the common terms to use. Alphabet55 01:52, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Ascention may connote paradisical afterlife, but it is also very commonly used in reference to acceding to an office, throne, or dignitary state. I agree that reign sounds a little odd to my ears in this example, but it is also fairly common. - Tenmiles 03:52, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Guinness is not a reliable source; besides, I don't see a "ne" anywhere in her name (皆川ヨ子), so if the 「子」 is to be read "ko" the name would be "Yoko". Also, the Japanese Wikipedia uses "Yone" (ヨね) as the phonetic representation of the name. - ∅ (∅), 18:08, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
