User:Ynhockey/contributions
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
These are articles I've contributed to in a major way. Nothing to be bragging about, but I saw another user do this and thought it would be nice to as well. Please note that a major contribution doesn't have a set size of words/edits/whatever, but (at least, on this page), is measured in how important it is to the article. However, I try to list only those articles, the size of which I've increased by at least 150%, or heavily copyedited. Obviously, a major contribution is not every non-minor edit.
This page was made for the following purposes:
- For my own record
- For anyone who is interested in my contributions
- For a case such as RfA (I hope to be re-nominated someday), where many users need to quickly find out what I've done on Wikipedia

[edit] Major contributions
This is mainly expansions of stubs or constant maintenance of an article. I personally gauge a major contribution by how much time it has taken me to contribute to the article. Therefore, even if it's a (bunch of) small edits which required a lot of time/effort, I will consider it a major contribution.
[edit] Main
* - I actually created these articles, but much of the content was cut from (an)other article(s). ** - Articles which were copied entirely or mostly from other articles to which I made major contributions.
[edit] Added tabular data
There are some ice hockey-related articles where I've added statistics for players. While I consider it a major contribution (took a long time for each player), it is not the same kind of content-based contribution as others, therefore I made a special section for it. So far I've added the statistics for the following players:
In addition, there are Israeli transportation-related articles where I've added the bus routes related to the article's subject, in the form of a table. The articles are:

[edit] FAs, FLs and GAs
I have significantly contributed to the following FAs, FLs and GAs (per above lists):
- List of Bleach Agent of the Shinigami arc episodes
- List of Bleach Soul Society: The Sneak Entry arc episodes
- List of Israeli cities
- Arad, Israel
- Sde Dov Airport
Other that the above creations/major contributions of FAs, FLs and GAs, I have contributed in various ways to other such articles:
- Israel - photograph, occasional copyediting
- Haifa - 2 images (photo, map), new information and citations
- Tel Aviv - 2 images (photo, map), several extensive reviews for FAC
- Ashdod - large amount of copyediting in article's initial stages
[edit] Project namespace
I have created or helped create/draft the following policies, guidelines, essays, etc. which are generally followed on Wikipedia:
- Wikipedia:Babel/Levels (no status; amounts to clarification for babel userbox usage)
- Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Hebrew) (guideline)
[edit] Other things I do
While I value quality over quantity, most of my edits are minor and probably not very significant. However, a certain type of edit, if done a lot, constitutes a major contribution. Examples of such edits in my case:
- Monitoring new articles and tagging them for Speedy Deletion, Copyvio, Notability, etc. or if they're good then wikifying and categorizing them when I can. I do this usually when I have time to edit Wikipedia but don't have anything specific I can do at the moment.
- Updating information on Israeli towns and cities, such as population, spelling of cities (there were a ton of redirects because no one could agree on transliteration), and more.
- Fixing typos and spelling mistakes - especially watching the word similiar (there are about a dozen new instances daily!)

Sometimes images on Wikipedia have a lot of potential, and are necessary for an article, but the quality isn't great. I have worked to fix that on the following images:
[edit] Contributions I'm not proud of
While most of my contributions are nothing to brag about, there are some which I'd rather not have made at all. They are:
- Some of my early edits/article moves, which would definitely constitute as vandalism (they were reverted). I think some of them caused quite a bit of pain (with double redirects and stuff).
- Some of my early edits which had information based on things I heard and/or remembered vaguely. These were often incorrect and in any case bordered on original research. I am now much more careful about what I put in articles.
- Proposal for the Anime and Manga Barnstar - don't get me wrong, I feel great about having proposed this, but on the other hand, it was the first proposal for a single project-related barnstar after the well-established Spoken Wikipedia Barnstar, and therefore many users decided that Anime/Manga did not have a large enough scope. Therefore, all farther project proposals were dumped into a new category called Other Related Awards, so none of them look notable. Just for the record, it took us a very long time to decide on the Barnstar image and we ended up with Mitsukai's BarnSakura.
- ... or lack thereof. I meant to create the following articles for a while but someone created them before me:
