[edit] Edits to Bellamy
Hi!
I want to recommend/discuss some edits with you, they have to do with the format:
1) "Rank". It's a good idea to state who gave the rank, when and which. Menkyo Kaiden is rather odd, simply because "Kashima Shinto Ryu" is a school attached to Shinto Muso Ryu and not seperate. Usually one has a rank in SMR that covers Ikkaku ryu, Isshin Ryu et allis. If this is from Kaminoda sensei, then state it. If this is from Kuroda sensei, state it. It's uncommon enough to warrant that!
2) Style. The "seminal book" reference; I think you mean "seminal influence". Otherwise, you need to paste the name of the authors before the books name, like this: by Nishiyama and Brown's seminal book (on Karate) 'Karate the Art of Empty hand Fighting'. Otherwise, this appears to be a book on Semen (it's the use). You also need to capitalize the first letter of each word in the name: Karate the Art of Empty *H*and Fighting ; Italics are nice for style, or follow one of the mauals of style to compelte that.
3) Wikify! I know that you want it to read your way, but it needs to be accurate/correlate to Wikipedia in the use of words and style. Goju should equal Gōjū-ryū, so on. It's common Wiki practice to put statements like :
In addition to instructor ranks in Karate, Judo and Aikido. He also holds advanced Menkyo Kaiden in Koryū Bujutsu,
As: In addition to instructor (shihan) ranks in Karate, Judo and Aikido he also holds advanced ranks (Menkyo Kaiden) in Koryu Bujutsu...
4) References. Where I put "Citation Needed" you should put a citation there- for posterity.
Thanks!

- Well my first reaction is to just to put thing back as they were. I might still do that. Honestly speaking I know you are no friend of his and I'm sort of thinking that all this is just a way to stir things up rather than improve the entry. Are you planning on doing the same thing with Phil Relnick and Pascal Krieger?
Ok I admit Steve's not the easiest person to get along with but I trained with him for four years up until last March and I have come to respect his ability and achievements.
If you assure me that what you are doing is with due respect to Steve then Ok if not then forget it. He certainly doesn't need our approval.

- I hope that it is clear that I am not doing anything out of respect or disrespect or to stir things up. I am trying to make a better article on Wikipedia (it needs better material, I believe) that points towards the SMR page. It's my hope that you will forget anything that you "heard" that transpired between Mr. Bellamy and myself and focus on the article (which is what I am trying to do). Let's try to keep it unemotional and logical. That's the point, wouldn't you agree?
Incidentally, neither Mr. Relnick or Mr. Krieger have Wikipedia entries. If they did and there was information that was left without citation, misworded or misleading I would do exactly what I am doing with the S. Bellamy article. I do this with my own work and that is my attempt at following academics to make articles more refined and viable sources of information.
By the way, there are some problems with the Nishioka article. Give it a look and add the [citation needed] tag where you think there should be more. That would help out. Several sets of eyes can pick up more than one! You can peruse it here: Nishioka Tsuneo Regards, Russ Mekugi (talk) 14:31, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

- I agree that both the SMR and Steve's articles could do with polishing up. Actually I have been thinking of moving both articles out of Wikipedia to Citizendium. I think they could do with more objective editing. These days Wikipedia's reputation is pretty low.

- Anyway the problem I have is that the guys that know this stuff (Bellamy, Matsui, Relinick, Kaminoda etc) have a lot of history (40+ years) between them. Whenever I ask a question about something or somebody they don't want to answer I always get 'oh – you'll have to ask so and so about that' Especially if you ask about Shimizu or Draeger. Actually Steve has been the most forthcoming but I have been out of contact with him this past year. I am in contact with one of his students.

- Ok in the light of your assurance I'll read over what you've suggested and try a few edits. You can give me feedback and see if we can improve things. By the way, yes you are right about the Kasumi Shinto ryu rank, It is included in the SMR rank. I should have been more clearer. There is no separate menkyo for that although I have seen a separate menkyo for Isshin ryu Kusarigamajutsu.
- Good! Let's get to it and make a better article. I haven't checked out Citizendom, I am still trying to get my heels up over at the Samuraiwiki. The amount of research that requires is stupendous. I agree with you about Wikipedia, the problem is that anyone can just join and edit immediatly and mess up a good article. I prefer a discussion based format with "join only" editors (that are subjective). There can be problems with that yet it seems to be better than the alternative. I think I might let things be here and just focus on that group. If you have a continued interest, you should join up as well.

- I will be away till next week. I will work on the update in the meantime and repost then. I wish the entire SMR related articles could be done in one edit. The way it's broken up and linked right now is too much to keep track of. That's why I am looking at moving these articles to Citizendium.
- Yes, the "freedom" here is a little too much. Some automation is nice, especially for linked articles. Stubs, links, formatting, style et al are tedious things to keep up on. Have a good Spring break! I know I will!!! Woohoo!! :)

Why did you delete the link to Supreme Court Judgment in controversy section? The judgment clearly states he was gulty and the gulty verdict was finalized. Do you want misinformation in wikipedia?61.24.95.63 (talk) 16:08, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
