[edit] Page name

Please stop moving the page without providing evidence that this is the most common name in English languege. I have seen many other transliteration of how they pronounce themselves. We are not going to rename Russians into Russki just because they call themselves so. Similarly, wikipedia strongly opposed renaming Kiev into Kyiv and flurry of other nationalist renamings. `'Míkka>t 20:45, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

I note there is plenty of evidence that Irukandji is NOT most commonly used in English to describe the Yirrganydji people .. just check the AIATSIS catalogue for a series uses .. Irukandji was the use preferred by one person in 1974, Norman Tindale, and is just one of the many NOT commonly used variations of Yirrganydji (expect for it having been attached to the name of that jellyfish!)
I refer you and other users to the comments just made on your/Míkka's talkpage as follows:

Your efforts to keep Wikipedia 'tidy' are appreciated, and thanks must be given for such efforts.

Please note, however, such diligence and such tidiness ought not be at the expense of Wikipedia's factual accuracy!! You recently redirected Yirrganydji people to Irukandji .. which you did:

i. despite my posted edit advice that the people involved refer to themselves as Yirrganydji NOT Irukandji (for an online reference see how people signed up in the Wet Tropics Regional Agreement here .. also, there are recent references alluding to this in theAustralian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies catalogue

ii. despite the fact that the page had been tagged as being revamped/ underconstruction suggesting people wishing to make changes to check with me .. your move effectively causing me some loss of work I was doing

I also note that a simple google or yahoo search of the word Irukandji reveals that the most common usage of this term is for Irukandji jellyfish .. this is what most people will expect to find if searching Wikipedia .. and this is what at least one user commented/observed in the original talkpage!

Please .. in the interests of working collaboratively and maintaining a good Wikipedia standard .. lets favour accuracy over neatness .. and lets be courteous and respectful in our edits and dealings?

Given all I've now outlined ... are you likely to contest a move of the article I was working on back to Yirrganydji people .. or will I have to request this move as a potentially controversial move?!

In order to introduce a new title, the first thing you have to do is to provide the corresponding footnote in the article with reference to official authorities which decide the name of the people. In this case I will not object to the move. Without such proof in the article your page move was not justified, since most eferences in the page used the previous name. If you find references about the history of the name usage, it will be great as well. `'Míkka>t 02:23, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
