I thought they said "yip-yip baha" in the english version, just like the spanish version, instead of "yip-yip uh-huh". Am I mistaken? EdGl 04:35, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

They may have said "mhuh-huh", but no one in the 1500 member Yip-Yip club I run seem to contest it. -- user:zanimum
The more I think about it you're probably right... Seeing as I'm not a little kid anymore (no offense to older fans, hey it's a great show) I haven't seen the show in a while, and since ba-hah and uh-huh sound pretty much the same I could just be off by a little. Could it be possible that they make the same sound in both the English and Spanish versions? If nobody detects a difference, then we could take out one of the phrases in the article (obviously I have never seen the Spanish version so I wouldn't know). EdGl 15:53, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
It's been 15-16 years ago, but I think it's "aha" in German, so as it sounds very much the same, perhaps there's no difference at all. Perhaps it would be helpful if someone has access to more than one language. --80.136.120.180 21:29, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Marsman not necessarily meaning Martian in Dutch

Take it from a Marsman whose name most likely dates back to the time of Napoleon and who is distantly related to the poet Marsman, the name Marsman, especially with reference to the poet, does not stem from the planet Mars, but rather wet lowlands. I'm not from the Netherlands, so perhaps Marsman has a cute double meaning in Dutch. It would be nice if someone who knows Dutch more than I could clarify this.

Marsman is the name of a poet, but it can also mean something related to military (because "Mars" means also "march"). I do not know the meaning related to wet lowlands.
When spoken of martians in popular language, in Dutch the word "marsmannetje" is used, which literally means like "little man from the planet Mars" (figuratively it means more like "strange little creature from Mars"). The word "marsmannetje" (plural: "marsmannetjes") is also used as a general word to indicate a creature from outer space. Since "marsmannetje" is the diminutive of "marsman" (although this word is itself never used to indicate martians), calling the yipyips "Marsman" can be considered a pun. Note that marsmannetjes are common to be found in "popular language", but rarely in serious works, where these creatures are called otherwise.

Ps.: I have just discovered that Dutch language wikipedia has an article called "marsman (buitenaards wezen)" (buitenaards wezen means extraterrestrial)! Probably "marsman" is also used to indicate a martian. SietskeEN 05:46, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Funny how no one ever asks someone who actually is Dutch... Marsman does indeed mean "man from Mars" or martian. Of its use in the military I have never heard. "Marsman" has nothing to do with "marcheren" or marching. It also has nothing to do with wet lowlands. Also, Van Dale only lists its meaning as an imaginary inhabitant of Mars. - Redmess 16:57, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
