From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Yerradoddipalli is a small village in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh state in India. Yerradoddi palli is a village that borders Mahal town. Agriculture is primary occupation for most people. There is a Sri Rama temple in the heart of the village. The temple was constructed by Late Smt.Akkayamma. The temple though is not very old, but has good tradition. People from the village perform 'chakka Bhajana' at the temple during harvest season to show their respect to God. Chakka Bhajana is a beautiful and rhythmic dance where people do a coordinated dance with sticks and sing along. This dance is a treat to watch and hear the authentic folk songs. It is how ever sad that the art is losing its sheen as more people migrate towards towns.
Many people in the village keep their surname as yerradoddi. Some of the prominent people from the village include former Panchayat Presidents Sri Yerradoddi Papi Reddy, Sri Yerradoddi Gangi Reddy.
There is a nearby hillock on the out skirts of Yerradoddipalli known as 'gunta enugu konda' which is a famous land mark. The hillock gets its name from its unique shape. The hillock is a good location for a small trekking expedition in the evenings.
