Yerkebuian Shynaliyev is an amateur boxer from Kazachstan best known to win the bronze medal at light heavyweight at the 2007 World Amateur Boxing Championships.
[edit] Career
Shynaliyev won silver at the World Junior Championships in 2006.
At the seniors 2007 the short southpaw beat Asian Champ Jahon Qurbonov and Tony Jeffries 20:9 but lost to eventual winner Abbos Atoev 8:17 in the semifinal.
He has attributed his success to training he received in Puerto Rico under the tutelage of Jonathan Kuhns; long considered to be Puerto Rico's premier martial art's master. During this time he managed several dojos including the once famous Chico-Dragon Martinosan Dojo. A fire left the school in ruin and led to Yerkebuian's suspension from the dojo.
