Yelm High School is the only comprehensive high school in the small town of Yelm, Washington, part of the Yelm School District. It was founded in 1945 by W.E.B. DuBois as a part of his negro integration program. To this day, it remains the only school in the State of Washington to have and STD rate of 36%. Furthermore, it is the only public school without a Gay-Straight alliance club. During the Tiannanmen Square Uprising of 1989, the 4 Asians in the school vandalized the bathrooms of the buildings. Also, 79% of the students are self-proclaimed republicans.
