Yellowhead Township is in the northeast corner of Kankakee County, Illinois. The population was 2,567 at the 2000 census. It includes Grant Park, Petersburg, Sherburnville, and Sollitt.
Yellowhead Township derives its name from the Potawatomi warrior, Yello Head, whose village was located at Yellowhead Point.
It is located at 41.249727 N, -87.619565 W. It has 113.76 km² (44 sq mi). (43.92 square miles) of land and 0.067 km². (0.02 square miles) covered by water. It has 958 housing units.

The township is governed by an elected Town Board of a Supervisor and four Trustees. The Township also has an elected Assessor, Clerk, Highway Commissioner and Supervisor. The Township Office is located at 7090 North Bull Creek Road, Grant Park, IL 60940.
