Yellow Medicine East High School

Yellow Medicine East High School is a small town high school (grades 9-12) located at 450 9th Avenue, Granite Falls, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. In 2005, it had some 405 students and 26 teachers. The school mascot is the "Sting," which resembles the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket. The Yellow Medicine East school district is the result of the merger of neighboring communities' schools. The majority of students from Granite Falls, Clarkfield, Hazel Run, Hanley Falls, Echo and Wood Lake attend Yellow Medicine East Schools.

Dance Team The Yellow Medicine East dance team, the Silhouettes, have won 5 state championships, 4 in the Jazz/Funk category, and 1 in the High Kick/Precision category. Their first championship for the A Jazz/Funk category came in 2000. They also earned the first place plaque in 2001, 2002, and 2003, in the same category. The Silhouettes most recent victory, in 2008, was in the A High Kick/Precision category. The Silhouettes came ahead of perennial power Cannon Falls, ending the Bomber's championship streak at three, and the Aitkin All-Starz.
