This article is about the surname "Yehoshua". For "Yehoshua" used as a given name, see Joshua (name). For other uses, see Yehoshua.
Yehoshua is a rare Hebrew surname that is presumably derived directly from the English translation of יהושע, which means roughly "Yahweh rescues" or "Jehovah is salvation".[1][2] "Yehoshua" was also the Hebrew name for Jesus and Joshua and has been used as a masculine given name.
This surname is sufficiently rare to apparently not appear in the United States Census of 1990.[3]
This surname is shared by several notable people:
- A. B. Yehoshua (born 1936)
- Itzhak Yehoshua (living)
