Year One (school)

In schools in England and Wales Year One is the first year after Reception. This year is the second in infant school. Children's ages range between five and six years of age. It is the first year of Key Stage 1.
In Northern Ireland and Scotland, Primary 1 is the first year of compulsory education, and pupils generally start at the age of 4.
