Year Nine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In schools in England, Wales and Australia, Year Nine is the ninth year of schooling after Reception. It is the third year in secondary school and the third and final year of Key Stage 3. Children's ages range between 13 and 14 years of age. Children in state schools in England (and formerly Wales - SATs were abolished in 2004/2005) take compulsory tests at the end of this year, known as National Curriculum Tests or colloquially as SATs (Statutory Assessment Tests). The levels range from 3-8.
In Leicestershire and some other counties, Year Nine is the last year children have in secondary school before moving up to a larger upper school.
In Northern Ireland, Year 9, otherwise known as Second Form, is the ninth year of compulsory education when pupils are twelve or thirteen years old.
