[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Nailaboss.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Nailaboss.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Hello,
Thank you for your stub submission. You may wish to note that it is preferable to use a stub template from Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types instead of using simply {{stub}}, if you can.

[edit] Poisonous Poets
Hi there.
The article on Poisonous Poets was speedily deleted because there was no notability asserted. I see you've brought up some arguments for keeping the band on the articles about its members that I nominated.
If you can cite sources for your claims, I suggest you bring Poisonous Poets to deletion review. If it is undeleted, that will greatly improve the case for keeping the rappers' articles, and then we can take a look at those. I'm here if you need help. Thanks. Grandmasterka 20:22, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Sessiondrummer.jpg
You licensed this nice image as Template:GFDL-self. You took the photo yourself, or that is you in the photo? If you could mention that in the image summary, that would help to avoid any image copyright police questioning it. (I'm not one of them, but I try to head them off in small, legit ways.) - Hi - please accept my most sincere apology - the warning was posted by WP:VP2, a tool I use to rapidly find an revert vandalism, by mistake - it has happened before and seems to be a program bug, but rest assured that I have reported it. If you look at the edit summary for the warning, you will see that it cites VP2 - I have no idea why this happened, but the software is still in beta testing stages, so I thank you for reporting this error, on behalf of the program's creator. I have striken the warning above out, to indicate that it was a mistake and prevent others from presuming that you are a vandal. Thanks, Martinp23 19:16, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Gta4announced.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Gta4announced.JPG. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Image:Dizzee.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Dizzee.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Student
Of course the term "sophomore" is known of by some people in the U.K., but it's never used (which is the burden of the claim that it's unknown). Saying "comparatively unknown" is vague; it could be taken to mean that it's sometimes used to refer to students, but not usually — and that's definitely not the case. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 11:06, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

- I apologize; if you couldn't tell by the paragraphs of malicious comments hurdled at me, I have been dealing with a couple of harassing pests and I have had a high level of "wikistress" going on, so I have been a bit on edge and it has also been effecting my ability to be a decent Wikipedian, at the moment. One of the other reasons why I removed it is because it has been removed once (if not, multiple) times with neither editors posting an edit summary, causing me to question the credibility of, at least, one editor's edits; what I say is the truth, and whether you accept this apology is up to you (I say this in a non-malicious manner). [edit] AfD nomination of Wayne Chiang
An editor has nominated Wayne Chiang, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wayne Chiang and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. [edit] Putting on a lisp
Please do not put on a lisp in spoken word articles. Your upload to
shows you do not have a lisp and putting on one may be seen as offensive by real sufferers of this impediment. From the way you read the article with a lisp, and working with several people in a school with lisps, it is obvious that you do not suffer from the impediment. Thanks, Localzuk(talk) 21:20, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry but I simply do not believe you. Working in a school with pupils who do have lisps, and having worked in a University where students and staff had lisps I find it very, very difficult to believe you. A lisp can not just be turned on and off and I am starting to become offended by your behaviour. I also have it on good authority (I will not reveal my sources) that you do not have a lisp.-Localzuk(talk) 21:26, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Please stop inserting this image in article Student. It does not belong there. We have had extensive discussions on the subject. Additionally this image is about to be flagged again for deletion, but this time on valid grounds. The RFC was based on invalid grounds which is why it failed. Please note the following notice. I was willing to overlook you improper upload until you insisted on putting it back into article Student yet one more time. (I have lost count on the number of times it has been done) Note: the following tag is generic. The license posted is valid, BUT the source of the image is still required and since it is a picture of another person, a statement regarding their release of the image is also required.
[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Student japes.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Student japes.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:02, 28 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Dbiel (Talk) 01:02, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for updating the image file. The only thing still missing is the permission from the unidentified subject that he also agrees to the stated license rules. Dbiel (Talk) 19:26, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Who is the copyright holder
We are getting a bit side tracked from the real issue. The real issue is who is the legal copyright holder of this photograph? Possible copyright holders are:
- The subject of the photo
- The person who took the photo
- The person who made the arragements to have the photo taken
- The employeer of any of the above where the act of generating the photo was considered a part of the employment contract.
So on what grounds are you claiming that you are the sole copyright holder? On what grounds are you claiming that the subject of the photo no longer has a legal interest in the photo? This is the key issue. The release from the subject simply helps to establish how is the copyright holder. See Model release

Hi, You asked for a citation regarding how Tuvans learn throatsinging. Which part are you asking for? That Tuvans learn formally at the school or that they pick it up naturally like a language? Considering that Tuvans have passed throatsinging on in their culture far back in time before they formed the school (before schools were even invented), it doesn't make sense to me why that needs a citation. [edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Emag-juttla.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Emag-juttla.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:42, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Visva Bharati Alumni List Update
I see you have 'undone' the 'cleaning' of the Alumni/Academics list of Visva Bharati University. I respect your fear, and WIKI's been a place for foulplay, I sure. But, there was a logic behind the 'Cleaning'. Since I have been associated with the University for more than 25 years, I have a fair idea who deserves to be mentioned and who doesn't. Please do some research, if needs be, on the university, the people involved, and find out yourself. Rudradev Sen and Subhradev Sen (I did my research!) are recent graduates who haven't done anything worth mentioning (their inclusion, I am afraid, stinks of self-promotion). Other names I deleted because, though they have achievements to back up, their inclusion will mean thousands others will have to be accommodated on the list - clearly not desirable here. There are thousands of VB graduates who have considerable celebrity-quotient around Kolkata or Bengal. But only those with international reputation or contribution should be considered. The list should be short and clean, mentioning only the best of the alumni. I am doing further research and shall duely update them. Meanwhile, please consider the cleaning. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.93.247.12 (talk) 14:03, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] PS
I am new on WIKI, not wholly aware of its rules and regulations, its modes of operation, so my method (of cleaning) might have been a little unconvetional. Excuse that. But I am working on that. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.93.247.12 (talk) 14:09, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Visva Bharati Alumni
Hi Yeanold, It seems you updated the Visva Bharati University alumni page on 7 may 2006, where you summarized the update as "added Patesh to alumni". Please tell us, since we are working on the Visva Bharati page, who is Gandrap Patesh? We didn't find much about him on the net. Neither could anybody associated with the university tell me who he is! Further, what does "Indian Minister for Contraflaction" mean? It sounds like a big nasty Joke! We are concerned and shall await your response, since we are sure you had a good reason for adding that. If it was a mistake, please undo it. Thanks. Hobson Jobson 19:42, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello, Yeanold Viskersenn. And thank you for (a) the very first Latvian greeting I have ever received, and (b) the very first time anybody has ever wished me well for All Souls Day. I do appreciate it, although to be honest I'm not sure why I do. But your photo looks nothing like that, so I'm confident you're not Death. But it's a reminder that death is never far away. Today would have been my ex-father-in-law's birthday. Yesterday would have been my paternal grandfather's birthday. Next week would have been my maternal grandfather's birthday. But they're all dead now. And I'm confident I'll make it to my own birthday the week after that. One of these years I won't get there, of course - but it's sure as hell not going to be this year. I have far, far too much writing to do before then, on Wikipedia and elsewhere. It only remains for me to wonder (c) why you chose me to be the recipient of this message. Random act of kindness, perhaps? In any case, you've done your bit for the cause of world peace today, so I give you the rest of the day off to go and have some fun and spread some more love. Many good wishes. -- JackofOz 20:44, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ghetto - Ghetto Gospel.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Ghetto - Ghetto Gospel.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 18:10, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Nathanmathers.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Nathanmathers.jpg.
Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:23, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Nathan Samra-Mathers
It's pretty hard to notify every editor of an article that it's been nominated. If you think you can provide convincing proof of his notability, go ahead and relist him at WP:DRV. Corvus cornix 21:49, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Visva Bharati Alumni: Who is Patesh?
Hi Yeanold, It seems you updated the Visva Bharati University alumni page on 7 may 2006, where you summarized the update as "added Patesh to alumni". Please tell us, since we are working on the Visva Bharati page, who is Ghandrap Patesh? We didn't find much about him on the net. Neither could anybody associated with the university tell me who he is! Further, what does "Indian Minister for Contraflaction" mean? It sounds like a big nasty Joke! We are concerned and shall await your response, since we are sure you had a good reason for adding that. If it was a mistake, please undo it. Thanks. Hobson Jobson 19:44, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Aphaia
Hi, can you let me know what you find offensive about that user name? As far as I know it has no particular meaning in English, although it is the name of a greek deity. User names don't usually need to be changed due to non english meanings. You can reply here. Thanks. ++Lar: t/c 14:17, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
DBIEL YEANOLD you should be told user Dbiel is using mis information about article STUDENT to get his own way he is claims the debate was resolved and decided the image was not allowed use in the article this IS 100% UN TRUE!!
I looked at all point made by each side and has made me very angry a good argument is ignored so someone gets their way - this is wrong on all levels!
you should need to resolve this incident at once —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.13.138.19 (talk) 18:41, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- Um, Dbiel, could you give me a clue about what this is about? I'd appreciate it. Pigman☿ 19:07, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Not a problem
I actually only got one message but it sure confused me! Particularly because it was such an incoherent message from an IP. (User_talk:Pigman#User:Dbiel) Glad you got it straightened out. It took me a little time to adapt the code for my pages. I'm only half good at paying attention to the details and always forget to change some link. Best, Pigman☿ 06:53, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My picture
Look you, representing my picture as a picture of yourself is fraudulent, and no way am I going to tolerate it. So I suggest you volunteer to remove it yourself before you get in any more trouble. Stan (talk) 14:46, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- Caption it with my name and/or a note about how you just like the image, and I have no problem with your use of the image. Comma-legalese aside, most people will interpret "yours, truly" as meaning the picture is of you and not someone else. One of the things you might not have thought about is that the ambiguous caption, combined with the lack of personal information about yourself, raises a suspicion that your account is me doing some kind of weird sockpuppet-like thing. Places like Wikipedia Review are always eager to come up with reasons to accuse a longtime admin and bureaucrat of chicanery, so I hope you understand my concern. I apologize for the harsh tone, to be honest this situation is a little weird and not something I've encountered before. Stan (talk) 19:45, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- That's a really poor choice for caption, but whatever, not worth the time. Stan (talk) 05:35, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- Stan Shebs seems like a nice enough chap, so why are you doing this to him? I'm not saying that you've broken any laws, but it is a rather weird thing to do. I think Stan is justified in feeling unsettled by it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.49.162.240 (talk) 13:33, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Ken Lunch
A tag has been placed on Ken Lunch, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
If you have any references, please provide them. --Ras (talk) 10:05, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Dear Yeanold Viskersenn,
Are you responsible for the reading on the Wiki webpage dedicated to Julie Kirkbride? Indeed, might it be your voice? I don't know whether you meant it to be - but it's very entertaining.
Have you made any other recordings on Wikipedia?
Could you reply to my email adress buttlekesick@hotmail.com.
