With his high school classmate Ercan Saatçi, now a famous musician and a sports journalist, wrote the tune "I Will Cry" and won the music competition of the HEY magazine. He was later admitted to the faculty of music at the Marmara University in Istanbul.
Between 1980s and 1990s, Çetin played at the Beyaz Ev (White House) in Bodrum. In 1991, he formed a band named "Blue Blues Band", together with Batu Mutlugil, Kerim Çaplı and Sunay Özgür. From 1996 to his death he played guitar with the famous band Mazhar-Fuat-Özkan at many concerts.
