[edit] License tagging for Image:First100.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:First100.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 13:05, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome

Welcome!

Hello, Yau, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

Also, please do take time to familiarise yourself with the Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines. Avoid erasing comments from talkpages that you don't like too (archiving is perfectly okay, though). - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 15:26, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

  • Mmmm...I wouldn't say it's vandalism. It's more of a content dispute, that is neither of you are currently agreeing on how the article should be presented. I certainly hope that both of you are sorting things out at the article's talkpage to eventually come to a consensus. - Mailer Diablo 17:04, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

    • but it's quite disappointed that the one, who has strong opinion, said he actually doesn't have time to improve this existing content. His major complaint is the writing style and grammatical errors, so he chose to delete all latest changes, including the table, new info on history, and citations, and also all discussion in the talk page. That's weird. Could you help us to improve the writing style of the page? --Yau 17:17, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
      • Unfortunately, I am currently dealing with other house-keeping related matters elsewhere at the moment - Please accept my apologies. You may wish to contact fellow sysop Miborovsky, who has previous dealings with this article before - He may be able to devote some time into improving your contributions and reach a consensus on this issue. - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 18:15, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
      • Oh yes, and assuming good faith on other editors will surely help a lot - I'm sure that all of us would like to look forward to the improvement of the article as a common goal. - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 18:37, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
Thanks a lot! I'm trying to contact Miborovsky. He seems to know modern and classical Chinese language very well. --Yau 19:50, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
Please, how many times must I tell you I did not delete your input from the talk page? If you don't believe me, look at the history page, click on the "last" buttons.
--Yau 20:48, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re : IP from the same country

AFAIK, only under two situations your IP will get exposed - When you are not logged in, or when you are a subject of a checkuser (which requests must fulfill stringent requirements, even I cannot do that myself). If you still have privacy/security concerns after this, let me know and perhaps I can ask for a third opinon on this matter. - Best regards, Mailer Diablo 00:13, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article deletion process

I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article 16 Million Reserve, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:16 Million Reserve. If you remove the {{dated prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Steven N. S. Cheung

I merged a page you worked on, Steven Cheung (economist) into Steven N. S. Cheung. What do you think? Could you help me out with it? LittleDan 14:57, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: On Japanese derogatory term on Chinese

You said: "Your edit on Chinese (11:30, 28 July 2006) is removed. Wikipedia is not a place for spreading Japanese derogatory terms in that way. --Yau 12:36, 2 September 2006 (UTC)"

Where did I "spread Japanese derogatory terms" on Chinese. Can you show some evidence before making baseless, false accusations. RevolverOcelotX

revelvoroceleot, you want evidence, LOL, how about the fact that you have been BANNED from editing LOL.162.83.161.190 (talk) 02:40, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:First100.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:First100.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:07, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
