Maybe I'm being thick, but what was the point of moving Abiotic Petroleum to Abiotic Petroleum origin and replacing it with a redirect to what it already was? The Land 22:45, 3 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I'm not sure I understand... content is in Abiotic petroleum origin, and Abiotic petroleum is a redirect. Isn't that how it's supposed to be? Or if you are referring to the reason for the move in the first place, I wanted to make sure the title reflected the fact that the article is really about a theory, not a special kind of petroleum. --Yath 22:52, 3 Jun 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Taxoboxes

Yath, thanks for going ahead and modifying Taxobox_section_subdivision. However, you didn't leave a message on wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tree of Life, and I'm not sure if you want help fixing the relevant pages, or if you want them left alone so a bot can handle it. If you do want help, maybe we could sign out letters of the alphabet. Thanks, Josh 07:18, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)

It's on a 65 second delay right now, which will make the job take well over 5 hours. If we want to shorten it, I can always cut the delay back. It's just a matter of not pissing people off with server-overloading. I don't see any need to do some by hand. --Yath 07:22, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] bi-, tri-nomial

I was just copying what dog had. It seemed useful IMO since the binomial format is more well known to lay people, but the trinomial is more correct. -- EmperorBMA|話す 06:40, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Hm it is certainly rare, I can say that. The dog and cat being classified as subspecies of their wild ancestor seems to be a recent development and I think it is still permeating the textbooks so I am sure there are some old ones left that still say canis familiaris and felis domesticus. I think the modern consensus is on the trinomials however... -- EmperorBMA|話す 07:03, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Species in Taxoboxes

Yath, I agree, it was redundant to put (as I did) "C. esculenta" under species in the taxobox on the Taro article. But I was trying to make a point. The species name of the taro plant is NOT "esculenta." A species name is a bionomial, so Colocasia esculenta or C. esculenta is the correct entry. I would suggest removing the "species" line from all the taxoboxes and simply go to the next "box" which is the binomial and there list Colocasia esculenta. It only shows a lack of understanding of taxonomic names at that level to list esculenta as the "species". - Marshman 17:14, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)

I figured that was why you did it. I don't know much about biology and taxonomy; my interest in the Tree of Life project is purely technical. So, I can't make the determination that it would be "redundant"; rather, I'm just blindly following the current conventions. Your modification was a stark departure from the format used so far. I expect that some discussion on WT:TOL would be a good idea (and if you read the whole page, you'll see that I scrupulously avoid the sections pertaining to why things are done the way they are, as opposed to how). It would be easy enough to modify Template:Taxobox_species_entry to be blank or different or something, if you can get folks to agree on something. --Yath 20:57, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Thanks Yath. I did put some discussion on a Taxonomy project page today (did not figure you were necessarily the one to "complain" to). I think the point I'm making is not one well understood outside of taxonomy; but the taxobox has it incorrect (and is clearly redundant anyway, when a "binomial name"—which would be correct—follows) - Marshman 21:08, 22 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Those blasted dashes . . .

Hi Yath - wonder if I could ask you not to use dashes: they're very annoying things, the main problem with them is that they're very brittle, and when editing near them, they fragment into little pieces some of which get left behind, stuck to other text like porcupine quills and showing up (usually as semi-colons) unwanted in the text. I can't see anywhere where they are really needed and that an ordinary hyphen or comma doesn't do the job perfectly well.
Also curious to know why you're removing line spaces after taxoboxes (where they're very useful for seeing easily where the taxobox stuff ends), but inserting them after every header, where they're completely unnecessary - MPF 08:22, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC)

I have been unsure about the dashes, and I agree it would be good to just use hyphens. But a blank line after a taxobox will cause the article text to be shifted downward. And a blank line after a header makes the source easier to read. For me. --Yath 11:52, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Hi Yath - thanks; I just checked on two versions with/without a blank line after the box, and there's no difference (at least with the IE browser I'm using! - is it different with other browsers?) - MPF 16:17, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC)
You are right. I just checked it and it only appears in preview... I will be leaving a blank line after the taxobox now. --Yath 16:37, 5 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] ruby cat

Apologies for adding back the "popular programming languages" category to the Ruby page in my recent edit -- the last edit to the page removed it without comment, and I was checking that the removal was legit (which it obviously is) when I saw some room for improvement in the page itself. I didn't realize I was editing an old copy of the page, so I accidentally reverted the previous change. My apologies, and thanks for catching my mistake. Neilc 03:50, 7 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Proper name caps

Yath, I noticed you are a source of changes to certain words used in biology to designate taxa from upper to lower case. In biology/taxonomy, the taxon level (or designation) is considered part of the name and is therefore a proper noun requiring caps. If the taxon name is used by itself, it is in lower case. Thus, it would be correct to write either "The family of figs is the Moraceae" or "Figs are in the Family Moraceae" It is incorrect to write: "order Pinales" (s/b "Order Pinales") and incorrect to write: "Poecilia is a Genus of minnows" (s/b "Poecilia is a genus of minnows"). Hope this helps. - Marshman 05:17, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

[edit] 1.44 MB floppy disk

There is indeed a 1.44 MB 3 1/2 in. floppy disk. I have one right here, same brand as Rader used. -- Mr. Billion 01:54, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

The floppy you have probably holds 1474560 bytes, which you can verify with the DOS dir command. That's the same as 1440 KB, which, if expressed as megabytes, is either 1.47 or 1.41, depending on what you like to call a megabyte. --Yath 03:28, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
This may be, but the industry standard for referring to a high-density 1440KB 3-1/2 inch floppy disk is 1.44MB. In fact, this is what is normally imprinted right on the disk. A DVD-5 holds 4.37GB or 4.7GB of data, depending on your math, but it is still referred to as a DVD-5. Hall Monitor 17:48, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
Do you have any references that this is anything more than a widespread error? --Yath 18:08, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean. I am looking at a box of high density floppy disks right now, all of which say "1.44MB" on them. Speaking personally, I've never seen a 1.44MB floppy referred to by any other name in the United States or Canada. Whereabouts do you reside? Hall Monitor 18:22, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
I guess it's not that important to push their "true capacity". We might as well refer to them by what most people think of. I won't be bothering you guys in the BTK article any more. --Yath 19:14, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alleged causes of Hurricane Katrina

I realize that there were strong feelings on both sides with respect to the outcome of the AfD for this article, now located at Alternative theories regarding Hurricane Katrina. I would like to assure those who expressed concerns about the content, tone, and potential for degradation of this article that I intend for it to continue to exist only as long as is necessary to draw the contributions of fringe theorists away from the more substantial Hurricane Katrina articles. Once interest in this topic dies down, I'll quietly trim and merge this information into the appropriate general-topic articles. In the interim, I will carefully watch this page to prevent it from being abused, and I will continue to work towards making this article NPOV, properly sourced, and useful to those seeking an accurate record of the hysterics that so often follows catastrophe. Cheers. -- BD2412 talk 00:48, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of comments

Your removal of my comment on the OpenBSD talk page without comment is childish and irresponsible. You have not provided adequate explanation for your edit war. In the future respond to comments in an intelligent manner rather than sweeping them under the rug. Fsiler 07:04, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

New topics should go at the bottom... --Yath 07:45, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for making this clear elsewhere in your page (or not, as the case may be). Traditionally new threads go on top in Wikipedia; I simply followed this convention.

Why don't you comment on the issue at hand, rather than the organization of your talk page (the pessimist in me says this is because you don't want new objections to be as readily viewable as the more positive content of your own creation at the top of your page)? I note you have continued the edit war rather than simply explaining your reasoning in a logical manner, which, despite your aggressive, rude, and childish nature to date, might entice me to back your position. I feel strongly that the spelling of the word "licen[cs]e" is a very insignificant part of the article and that our time could be spent in much more productive ways, such as improving the article. Fsiler 08:30, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

Traditionally, new threads go on the bottom in Wikipedia. As for why I don't comment on the licence issue... well, the fact that we are on the same side would make any argument between us pretty boring. --Yath 16:18, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
The only "side" I'm on is the one against the edit war, which you have perpetuated since removing my remark from the talk page without even so much as leaving a comment (though I don't believe you've touched the article since responding here, to your credit).

I assume you believe that I'm on your "side" from the fact that I reverted the article back to your last edit at one point. My only reason for doing this was that they had removed substantial numbers of links (in addition to changing the spellings), which I deemed unacceptable. More to the point, I haven't seen a dictionary that doesn't list "license" and "licence" as valid instances of the same word. To date I take no stance on the correct spelling and will not make any reverts or edits solely along those lines.Fsiler 21:34, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Nuclear power

Hi, they seem to be intent on keeping the passage that I had issues with in this article. I'm out of reverts here and I could use a hand. If you don't care to get involved in this spat I understand. Thanks DV8 2XL 17:33, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, but I like to follow a 1 revert per day rule. Going the limit against those guys cannot possibly improve the situation. I'm afraid I don't know of a solution right now, except long-term persistence. This is one of the warts that Wikipedia is destined to wear for a while I think. Most people who read the article will sense the bias, and the immaturity of the language they use will help to ensure that. --Yath 17:47, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
You have a point, and I shouldn't let it bug me. Thanks anyway. DV8 2XL 17:56, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Perl

Hi there. Could I draw your attention to a couple of dead links in the Perl article under the heading CPAN. [edit] GIF

I've been following the "colour" vs. "color" thing with some amusement. According to the article, it is a format invented by an AMERICAN company. So, shouldn't the AMERICAN spelling of "color" be used? What do the wiki guidelines say? Wahkeenah 01:06, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

Perhaps it should. I'm not too attached to one spelling or the other. This isn't the place to discuss it, of course. --04:09, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
If not, then why do you keep messing with it? Just wondering. And why isn't this the place to discuss it? Wahkeenah 04:32, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
We seem to have a case of a person or persons intent on changing the article from commonwealth to american english, in violation of policy. Given the wrath that Wikipedians often exhibit when they feel that their culture is being marginalized (see Talk:Color), it's not a good idea to let that happen. If there's a good reason to change it, I'm sure someone will mention it on Talk:GIF. Until then, it appears to be just ignorant anons changing spellings they're not comfortable with. --Yath 05:10, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
You may not be married to it, but you're engaged. >:) I asked you earlier what the wiki guidelines say, and you still haven't quite answered that question. Wikipedia itself is based in the USA, as far as I know. What wiki policy says it should be the British "colour" instead of the American "color"? Wahkeenah 05:15, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
OK, never mind, I think I get it. Because the article is not specifically USA-oriented, the rule is to go with the British "colour", yes? Ya know, I went to this page just to find out what GIF stood for, and as a "side show", I am seeing this "color" vs. "colour" war. It's much better to be an observer than a participant. :) Wahkeenah 05:19, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
Yes, in the absence of a compelling reason for one or the other, the rule is to stay with whatever variety the article was originally written in. I'm not saying a case couldn't be made for it being US-centric enought to switch, but the issue is way too sensitive for the article to be changed without some sort of discussion.
As for whether it's better to be an observer--it depends on the thickness of one's skin, I suppose. Many strong-willed wikipedians have abandoned the effort due to frustration, and I've come close several times. I'm not quite ready to abandon it to vandals and trolls just yet, though. --Yath 08:33, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Reversion to color

Hi there. Do you have any reference to support that "color" is not US-only? If so, could you please fix the spelling MoS that the article references? Because that's what it's saying at the moment, so the previous editor was correct in that it looked like a contradiction. Thanks.

I'll snatch your "reply in your talk page" template if it's ok :). PizzaMargherita 19:56, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Well, I can't justify that statement. It looks like I was wrong. However, the phrasing is pretty POV and inflammatory, so I'd still oppose the statement if it were returned. --Yath 18:09, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
The phrasing was "The spelling color is used in the U.S., while colour is the preferred spelling in the rest of the English-speaking world."
To be honest I didn't find it inflammatory nor POV, but simply true and consistent with the reference provided. Can you suggest a better phrasing? The current version is less informative and references a page that is less relevant. Thanks. PizzaMargherita 19:13, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
It was pretty good before with the footnote. Note that being truthful is not inconsistent with being POV. Specifically, that phrasing reinforces the perception that the US stands apart from the rest of the world in some significant way--while the subject is in fact merely a spelling difference. Identifying American and Commonwealth English dialects is not only less biased, it's more informative. --Yath 23:38, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Blue and Live oak leaf clusters.jpg

Hi Yath - nice pic! Could you add where the photo was taken? I'm hoping to identify which species of live oak it shows - thanks, MPF 01:23, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

It was taken approximately here, in a park in Cathey's Valley in Mariposa County, California. As you can see I'm new at this. It occurs to me that including a little ruler in the photos would be a good idea. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated! Here is another photo I took at the park: Image:Mariposite monument Cathey's Valley.jpg (neither tree is visible in this photo). --Yath 01:35, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! - the location rules out Coast Live Oak (it doesn't get onto the east side of the Central Valley at all). On leaf shape, it is actually Quercus wislizenii (Interior live oak), if you want to add the pic there too (it doesn't have one yet!). Good idea to carry a 10 or 15 cm ruler around, but it won't always be easy to hold next to the photo subject. With pics done on a scanner it is a lot easier (see e.g. here), but then you don't get the natural background or the depth of focus. Not an easy one to solve! - MPF 01:56, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Ooops! Curtis Clark has identified it as Canyon Live Oak (Q. chrysolepis) [1] - MPF 16:18, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Ok... I was afraid the leaves were too big for Q. wislizenii but was going to go back to check the tree before saying anything. --Yath 16:23, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed Georgia Move

As a past participant in the discussion on how to handle the Georgia pages, I thought you might be interested to know that there's a new attempt to reach consensus on the matter being addressed at Talk:Georgia (country)#Requested_Move_-_July_2006. Please come by and share your thoughts to help form a consensus. --Vengeful Cynic 03:25, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Comments on Chicago page re: naming

You display wisdom in an area where it is much needed. Good job, and thanks. --Serge 03:51, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pound

Thanks for your words at Pound (mass), I can't really explain it, but they really made my day. Thanks for making wikipedia a better place by adding your opinion. :D McKay 07:34, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed them :) It is fun to show up the show-uppers too. --Yath 07:38, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion

An identical file on the commons is a criteria for speedy deletion. If you really think there is a problem with the version on the commons, upload the crop there.--Peta 08:38, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

The file that you placed in Pronghorn is not identical, and in fact is lower quality than the one you removed. I do not object to anything you do on commons, but I do object if you degrade the quality of this article. --Yath 08:47, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Yoghurt->Yogurt

Would you support and participate in a move of a page based on the first dialect justification when editors cannot come to any other agreement? --Serge 20:38, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

No... that would just piss people off. We can't move it from its present location without consensus. --Yath 20:41, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
I don't think this is going to do any good either. People are free to vote for no reason or for the wrong reasons. It's a shame about yogurt, but that's the way it goes. --Yath 23:39, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cogito ergo sumo

Hello! I reported Cogito Ergo Sumo because I suspected he was the anonimous IP user that kept reverting the article North America in the past weeks. I suspected because they both support the same POV, they both are from Toronto Canada, and because of the same style of writing. Well, I was not wrong. He was blocked for being 142.150.134.57 what do you think? I think it was very obvious when the anonimous IP guy changed the table back to the UN geoscheme and then Cogito (like 2 minutes later) made another edit without reverting the agreed uncategorized table... :o AlexCovarrubias 06:41, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Yogurt/Yoghurt

This notice is to inform you that there is a new discussion open on the Yogurt/Yoghurt debate. Please visit Talk:Yogurt#Requested move revisited and consider participating. Thank you. —Mets501 (talk) 00:47, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Yogurt

Why did you change the voting from yogurt/yoghurt to the more ambiguous support/oppose? It confused me, because now we're voting to move to yogurt, but it's already at yogurt! --Serge 07:26, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

I thought the votes of "yogurt"/"yoghurt" would be more confusing, especially to tally. I could be wrong... hopefully it won't result in yet another mess. --Yath 07:51, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wording of U.S. proposal

I intentionally borrowed as much wording as possible from the current wording of the Canadian proposal to make it clear I'm proposing what is already in use up there. Once it is adopted, we can fine tune the wording. Your vote in support of the currently proposed wording would be appreciated. Thanks. vote here. --Serge 20:32, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New Cork vote

There is a new move request and survey regarding Cork. This time it is proposed to move Cork to Cork (city) in order to move Cork (disambiguation) to Cork. You are being informed since you voted in the last Cork survey. See Talk:Cork. --Serge 07:30, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:X-COM_UFO_Defense_manual_cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:X-COM_UFO_Defense_manual_cover.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Invalid votes?

Could you update Talk:Vertigo with the reason you invalidated the votes. I see nothing in the WP:VOTE area that gives guidance on this. Thanks. (John User:Jwy talk) 22:05, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

I'd like to second that request, if I may. I'm not aware of any policy or guideline that says non-registered users don't get to have their say, if that is indeed your reason for invalidating those votes. PC78 14:40, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
I have not encountered any votes that allow anon votes, but I suppose if you want to include them in the Vertigo move discussion it wouldn't do too much harm. --Yath 22:23, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] colorized pictures

Yea that might be true but now you can see what it looked like (hindenburg) with color it gives you a better idea how it looked.--Pediaguy16 03:25, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] This is sort of a post-discussion sharing

since the animal sacrifce picture is going up in flames [like a good sacrifice should, Gen:4-4] I though I'd share this related, but certainly not proof detail. This is a painting on a rock overlooking where I found the dog. Life, what a place to live. Carptrash 18:33, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Boston

Don't you want to register a vote in support of your own move? --Serge 23:02, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] use the most common name

I'm thinking maybe we need to start a project that monitors/addresses/resolves naming issues with respect to unnecessary disambiguation. Would you be interested in participating in such a project? Any ideas on what to call it, how/where to have it, etc.? --Serge 00:05, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] North America (Americas)

I created this article because the template Regions of the world lacked a link to the North American region. Instead of that, it presented a link to North America as a continent (already in the template Continent of the world).

The article was nominated for deletion because the nominator says it is POV forking (which is not, because there are different geographic models applied to the Americas as you know). Would you please comment and vote? AlexCovarrubias ( Let's talk! ) 15:45, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] dialectical

I hope you take the following comment as helpful, because this is the way it is intended.

Your comment on the maize talk page uses the word "dialectical" when I think you mean "a matter of dialect". "Dialectical" is the adjectitive of dialectic, a term used in the philosphy of reason. The arguments used on that page may be dialectical, but I don't think you meant in that way 'cos it doesn't fit the context. --Tom 08:40, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Split

I started a new requested move for Split to Split (city) per your suggestion. See Talk:Split#Requested_move --Serge 23:26, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Master of Orion 2 cover.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Master of Orion 2 cover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:01, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Subclasso

Hi, I just noticed that a template you created, Template:Subclasso, is unused and appears to be abandoned. I've marked it as deprecated, meaning it'll be deleted in two weeks' time if nobody objects. If there's a reason to keep it please leave a note at Wikipedia talk:Deprecated and orphaned templates and feel free to remove the deprecated tag from the template. Thanks. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:X-COM UFO Defense manual cover.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:X-COM UFO Defense manual cover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. « ₣ullMetal ₣alcon » 19:43, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Pokey15 3.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Pokey15 3.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:55, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] "Bangalore "vs "Bengaluru", again

The article on Bangalore has yet again been moved to "Bengaluru". That move was done hastily and in disregard of the long-running controversy about it and past lack of consensus for it. (It has also been made irreversible by ordinary editors.)
If your opinion is still that the article belongs at "Bangalore", please say so on the article's talkpage. -- Lonewolf BC (talk) 16:43, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
