Yash Pal is one of the top physicists in India. He held several academic positions and later on served as a the Chairman of University Grants Commission.After retirement,he took to propagation of science on the Indian Television.He was elected to the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
He was born on 26th Nov. 1926.
Professor Pal was the 1980 recipient of the Marconi Prize honoring individuals whose scope of work and influence carry on the legacy of Guglielmo Marconi. As the first director of the Space Applications Centre at Ahmedabad, he was a leader in applying modern communications technology to meet the needs of isolated rural Indian villagers through the use of a satellite-based direct television broadcast for education and development.
