The ORIGINAL 'Yaar Radio' was official launched back in 2003 by Canadian Singing Sensation Jazzy B.
The station was rightfully crowned 'LONDON'S FIRST YOUNG ASIAN HIT MUSIC STATION'
ALL the presenters were taken on as UNPAID presenters and asked to work for free for the first six months (quite embarrassing for such a large organisation like Sunrise Radio Ltd to do that). Just as the station was going from strength to strength, the management decided to get rid of all the presenters, with the exception of Vinny Virdee and Ellia Khan, who within three months of the launch went on to Club Asia, and now the BBC Asian Network.
The original presenters of 'Yaar Radio' can were: Maya, Ranj Rekhi, Sonia Paneser, Danny Deol, Dee Singh, Kim Boss, Vinny Virdee (aka: Jas Rao or Jas 'The Man'), Ellia Khan (aka: Noreen Khan).
The management had a policy of playing only asian music.
The music played is aimed at a young Asian audience and consists of "the latest Bhangra and Bollywood mixes" as well as "the hottest urban, fusion and R&B [2].
