Yann Sommer (born December 17, 1988 in Basel) is a Swiss footballer who plays in goal for FC Basel in the Swiss Super League.

Yann Sommer is 70.5 inches tall (179 cm) and weighs about 154 pounds (70 kg). His preferred foot is his right. He is one of the most promising young goalkeepers in the world and is likely to play for the Swiss national team in the future. He came through the ranks at FC Basel. He was the 1st choice goalkeeper for the reserve squad and 3rd choice for the full team. He has also appeared on the bench for the full team. He recently received a new four year deal at the club which will keep him there until 2011. Last season he played for FC Vaduz in Liechtenstein as he was on a season-long loan there. He is currently the first choice goalkeeper for the Switzerland Under-21s squad. He has also been capped at Under-16s and Under-19s level.
