Yankin is a township or district of Yangon, the former capital city of Myanmar. It is located in the middle area of the city. It is in the Eastern District of Yangon.

The Moe Gaung Paya, built by the Mon King Dhammazedi, is located in Yankin Township.
The Central Bank of Myanmar, the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Industries 1, Ministry of Industries 2, Ministry of Mines and the Ministry of Forestry had their main offices in Yankin Township before the move to the new capital Naypyidaw by the regime.
Inya Lake is located on the western border of Yankin Township.

The Sedona Hotel and Dusit Inya Lake Hotel are located in Yankin Township.

The Kokkine Swimming Pools, the main swimming pools in Yangon, are in Yankin Township. Yankin Centre is a thriving commercial hub of Yangon, and an amusement park, named Mya Kyun Tha, is located on Inya Lake's shores.
The largest Chinese joss-house (Bohn Kyaung) is in Yankin.
Saya San Road, named after the 1930s Burmese rebel-hero, Saya San, runs through most of Yankin's important places.

Yankin was the site of one of the many public housing programmes implemented by U Nu's post independene government. Much of this still exist, termed Yankin Taik khans.
Yankin Kyae Oh (YKKO) is a fast growing fast food chain selling chinese noodles (kyay oh) in several outlets around Yangon. It had its first shop in Yankin, thus its name.
