[edit] Cleanup

(initial comments pasted over from User_talk:Nlu:)

Before the cleanup is done, the greatest imperative is what does a person who demands a cleanup contribute? Absolutely nothing. Perhaps it is more polite to leave the contributors a message on what IS LACKING. Imagine contributing to Wikipedia only to have a random stranger telling you you need to clean something he gave nothing to. Chensiyuan 19:25, 6 September 2005 (UTC)

Again, with due respect:

The article is not your article, and it's not your responsibility to clean it up. This is a cooperative project. Obviously, you wrote the initial article, but the entire community is expected to improve on it. This is not an accusation of any personal failing on your part, merely that the article needs to be improved. As they warned you when editing an article, don't do it unless you're ready to live with the possibility that other people would mercilessly edit it (and presumably, critique it).

And it does. The article, as it stands right now, lacks context, and also is not well-organized. It needs to be clarified and tied up to its proper context. --Nlu 19:29, 6 September 2005 (UTC)

Dear Nlu,

You must know, that is ALL there is to know about Yang Xiong. If you know more, please contribute more to the article. You want context? The links to Water Margin, and the 108 bandits ARE provided. That is the ONLY context. Thank you. I agree that cleaning up is pivotal to Wikipedia. I am NOT totally familiar with formatting. But content wise, I know all there is to know about Yang Xiong in a factual sense, inasmuch as his existence is disputed as fiction. So, what you really can do to HELP is to re-format it, since content-wise there is no more to say. And, merciless criticism I am sure you can see is pointless. (Apparently comment from Chensiyuan)

Well, when a user sees this article, he/she would immediately think: what's Water Margin? I think at least half of a sentence of explanation would be necessary. That's what I mean by context. And if you think that I'm mercilessly criticizing, I apologize, but I think it should be noted that any merciless criticism is somewhat self-inflicted on your part. It was you who demanded an explanation; I placed a cleanup tag on the article; that was it. I am hoping that someone who's more familiar with the work than I am would pick up the job to clean up the article. If no one does, I do plan to edit it myself later, but I am not familiar with the work. It would be natural for someone who is to do so if that person is available -- ergo, again, my placing of the cleanup tag. --Nlu 01:13, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
