Yamadera Nobuaki (?-?) was a retainer beneath the clan of Takeda throughout the latter Sengoku Period of Feudal Japan. While initially under service to the Takeda of Kai province, Nobuaki acted as retainer to Takeda Shingen's younger brother Takeda Nobushige; and throughout the course of his vassalship, he became regarded as a man of notable courage. At the Fourth Battle of Kawanakajima in 1561, Nobushige would unfortunately lose his head to the soldiers directly subordinate to Uesugi general Kakizaki Kageie[1], prompting Nobuaki to pursue and kill the man who took the head of his master and forthwith present it to Shingen at the appropriate time. Following this incident, Nobushige's head and body would be buried at the battlefield of Kawanakajima, where it continues to remain even to present day as a memorial gravesite. Nobuaki's respective son, Masayoshi, would survive the Takeda's fall in 1582 and become retainer to the Tokugawa in accordance to circumstance, thus initially ensuring the safety of Nobuaki's family line.
