[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lilia Zaiarna

Hi, I am most surprised at the outcome of this debate. I understand that it involves more than counting votes, but there were four votes in favour of delete and only two for keep. How does that equate to "possibility leaning towards keep"? The article still remains devoid of independent references, and claims of notability are unproven. Before I plan any further response, I am interested in knowing more of your reasons for maintaining this article. Thanks, WWGB (talk) 04:12, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

The fact that one of the reference is independent or not is in question, however, it is a reliable source nevertheless. The subject has won two awards, which establishes somewhat of a notability, according to WP:MUSIC, if barely. Some of the deletion comments I find on the debate seemed irralevent to the discussion, such as POV issues and copyvio. If there is an evidence which shows that the source is not independent then I'm probably willing to consider its deletion, however, I do not see any evidence of that so far, as it seems that the independency of the source can probably be debated for weeks. So, basically a somehwat reliable source plus with some awards won shows some borderline notability. The "possibily leaning towards keep" is very weak, I would say, and it is more based on the arguments presented rather than the number of votes there are, especially with one of the !votes which brings issues that are irrelevent to the deletion criteria. [edit] Deletion review

By "rationale", I meant fair use rationale, which the images were deleted for lacking. --NE2 05:08, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't have the images, so they would need to be undeleted so I can add the rationale. There should probably be a speedier process for this, but I couldn't find one. --NE2 05:21, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Why is it a problem to restore the original information? --NE2 07:23, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't work with images, and I think you are probably more familiar with images than I do. I have no idea what tags go with what kind of images, or what kind of criteria's there are for images. So rather than restoring the image without knowing what to do with it, I will rather trust your editorial judgement on what to do with the images. However, I do plan on getting familiar with working with images somewhere in the future, but probably not until I get enough free time. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 07:27, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
There was nothing wrong with the image; it just needed the proper hoop jumped through. I will do that if they are undeleted; I see no reason the old image description shouldn't remain. --NE2 07:28, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, fair enough, I undeleted these images. If you are going to add the fair use rationale, please do it as soon as possible. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 07:33, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. I have completed my work. --NE2 07:46, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of programs broadcast by Radio Philippines Network

Hello. Just a quick request regarding your close of the AfD for List of programs broadcast by Radio Philippines Network. While I do not disagree with how you closed the discussion, I do strongly object to your referral to my opinion as "wikilawyering". As I'm sure you probably aware, that is a loaded term here with an extremely negative meaning (see Wikipedia:Wikilawyering#Negative connotations). In my almost two years and 14,000+ edits here, that is the first time I have ever seen someone accuse me of it. I would greatly appreciate it if you would remove that unneeded and pejorative term from your closing summary. Thanks so much. — Satori Son 01:45, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I think you misunderstood my statement there. I certainly did not say you did wikilaywering, I'm just saying that it would require a lot of wikilawyering in general, not in a negative way either. But I guess just to be safe I'll change the wording. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 01:48, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Very, very sorry that I misunderstood. And I really appreciate your changing it so no one else makes the same mistake I did. Have a good one! — Satori Son 01:53, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dungeon Majesty

Thank you for you for your comments on our AFD. Since wikipedia is allowing and suggesting article recreation, we would greatly appreciate your help in the matter of a re-write. We understand the original entry for Dungeon Majesty was poorly written and would like to present the following as reference for our newest entry:

Dungeon Majesty is a fantasy television show created by Telefantasy Studios. The show is based on the popular roll-palying game Dungeons and Dragons. Eight episodes in all, the allure of Dungeon Majesty is found in it's low fi charm reminiscent of the bygone era of science fiction television shows "Dr Who" and "Land of the Lost" as well as the shows D.I.Y. statement of creating new television.

The show first aired on public access stations in New York and Angeles in 2004 and when broadcast on the interent, became a popular viral internet videos. Landing their first video "Geek Girls Play D&D" in the list of top 10 interet videos of all time, according to iFilm.

In 2005, the cult tv show became so popular that MTV2 asked the production team to create 12 shorts which were then put into rotation between music videos.

Dungeon Majesty has garnered press in "Dragon Magazine", "RES magazine", "Lumpen magazine" ,appeared on G4 Tech TV's "Attack of the Show" and "The Screen Savers, as well as World of Wonder's "Ring My Bell". In 2005 Dungeon Majesty was included in XTREME Fashion a crtitcal look at the influence of costume and new media published by Prestel Books.

The cast was often asked to be special guests and lecturers at gaming conventions around the country including KublaCon and GenCon. As well as have shows in galleries and theatres around the world. Taking the han

Wizards of the Coast, the organization which own the rights to Dungeons and Dragons, openly embraced the show and in 2006, held a contest based on a Dungeon Majesty short titled "WORLD OF ADVENTURE". The winner of THE WORLD OF ADVENTURE SWEEPSATKES was given a series of books including Cityscape and Fiendish Codex II: Tyrants of the Nine Hells.

In 2007 Dungeon Majesty teamed up with Leslie Hall, to create the video "Willow Don't Cry" animated video inspired by the film "Willow" which premiered at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles.

In the same year Dungeon Majesty was part of Version Festival, a major new media arts festival in Chicago.

[edit] Jay Brannan

I have very little doubt that your close will be taken to DRV (it seems that every speedy deletion or AfD that references BLP ends up there at least once), not least because there will be a good bit of dispute, one might expect, about your regarding as invalid those "delete"s principally premised on the subject's not wanting an article (which some will suggest, I expect, to be not wholly consistent with Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#BLP deletion standards [even as that section of BLP provides, wrongly, and in a fashion quite at odds with our overarching understanding of adminship as purely ministerial, that the closing administrator is given wide discretion to consider the wishes of a marginally notable subject, and presumably to discard those parts of !votes that adopt by reference those wishes]), but I, for one, offer my compliments for your undertaking so deliberatively and wisely to close a rather contentious AfD and for your closing the AfD per the community discussion (as against, of course, in substitution of your own views for those of those who partook of the discussion, which fault we see with some frequency at contentious BLP AfDs). Good on ya! Cheers, Joe 07:56, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Neat close, stylish comments. That I don't fully agree with you is by the way. Well done! I'm not sure, though, about your invitation (it seems) for further comment. I think people should be encouraged to put up and shut up; if they really want to, they're always free to start another AfD (yawn). -- Hoary (talk) 08:34, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

It's refreshing to see someone take the time to summarize the arguments so well. Obviously I agree with the close and agree with those arguments you weighed more strongly in the decision, but I would like to believe that even if the close had gone against my position, I would still appreciate the elegance of the closing rationale. You obviously did your homework, took your time and looked at everything, and it shows. And if this close winds up at DRV, I will fight even harder to endorse the close, but here is not the place to argue that. Time to overhaul the article now. — Becksguy (talk) 09:53, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Indeed, this is the kind of XfD close that I could respect, even if it went against my convictions. Clear, concise reasoning, based on a summary of the views expressed, not reliant on counting votes. Please allow me to say domo arigato. --SSBohio 02:48, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

I echo the above sentiments. While I wouldn't discount the BLP deletion arguments in the manner that you did, it was refreshing to see your reasoning so clearly laid out. Cheers, ➪HiDrNick! 23:01, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hi

Can a cool admin help a guy out? I want to add one sentence to the world of Wikipedia. But I can't. The sentence is factual, provable, reliable (I chose the New York Times version.)

Circumcision may decrease a man's risk of getting HIV but it may also INCREASE a man's risk of getting herpes and chlamydia. (and some doctors even say other STD's too but I won't get into that and I wouldn't put caps on INCREASE.)

The article on circumcision mentions the term HIV probably 100 times (I'm not joking) and mentions "herpes" or "chlamydia" not Once. Click on the article. You tell me if it's an article on the procedure called circumcision or a pro-circumcision propaganda pamphlet.

Can a cool admin stop two guys named Avraham and Jakew (the site's dictators) from deleting my one sentence I want to add? Or possibly get new Admins to take over this article, which has fallen way below Wikipedia standards.

here's the New York Times piece... http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?sec=health&res=9C07E4D91F3AF931A35757C0A961958260&fta=y

[edit] Deletion review for Top 1000 Scientists

Dear Mr.Ichiro

I thought I must leat you know that I have nominated thsi page for deletion review.I shodul very much like to have your views.Very best wishes and Sayonara.(Delhite (talk) 09:52, 18 February 2008 (UTC))

[edit] Explanation

I am curious as to what this means: "deletion is not yet nessesary, time should be given before the deletion of the userpage is to be judged." I speak native English and honestly, this sounds kind of like nonsense. Are you asserting, perhaps, that we have to let the userpage sit for a few weeks before MfDing it? That is not consistent with policy. I would prefer if you could substantiate your decision based on the policies/guidelines cited in the MfD discussion (or perhaps some not cited in the discussion). WP:USER would be the most obvious one to look to. Thanks. --Cheeser1 (talk) 01:35, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

It means that it is too early to assert what the user will do with his userpage and what his intention is on Wikipedia, based on WP:AGF. The user may have intentions to stay on Wikipedia and contribute to Wikipedia legitamitely, and I just feel that the MfD nomination is violating WP:BITE. I think that efforts should be made to let the user know about the userpage policy first, which I don't think it was made. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 01:41, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
WP:BITE doesn't substantiate a keep (or delete) rationale. It's simply a guideline about how to act with newcomers. Policies were explained plainly and patiently on the user's talk page. Furthermore, vanity articles in any namespace are routinely deleted, especially those written by apparent SPAs who only write self-promotional/COI articles. But I'm sure you already read that when I said it in the MfD, I'm just not sure you addressed it. --Cheeser1 (talk) 01:52, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Whether intended or not, the deletion still has the potential to discourge a newcomer to Wikipedia who does not know much about the WP:COI or WP:USER nevertheless, as it gives a message "you do not deserve a userpage on Wikipedia" even if that is not what it means. Secondly, it is just too early to assume the user is a SPA as it does not fit with WP:AGF, and I think we should give the user the benifit of the doubt for the time being. If he really is a SPA, we will find out soon enough. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 01:59, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Two weeks and all he's done is play with his resume autobiography userpage[2]. Is this "soon enough" to decide that this is not the place for him to post his resume? Do you have some sort of timetable in mind? Because your "keep" decision appears to be predicated on the assumption that this userpage would be acceptable once the user established himself as someone interested in editing Wikipedia productively. He has not done so, and appears only to be interested in developing his userpage (and Aceromath), something he links to[3] as if it were his personal website. --Cheeser1 (talk) 17:40, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your edit: (moved Template:BIRTH-DEATH-SORT to Template:Lifetime: TfD suggestion)

For your information: This template move results in awkward "preview" of articles that contains the {BD}-template. (A 'redirect message' is shown, while the implied categories are not shown in preview mode). Oceanh (talk) 01:45, 19 February 2008 (UTC).

It is caused by double redirects, I just fixed one with {{BD}}, if you see any more of these, please fix them. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 01:48, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. The old {BD}s seem to work fine now. I didn't realize exactly what happened. By checking, there are also double redirects for Template:BD-SORT, Template:BDSORT and Template:BORN-DIED-SORT. I am not familiar with those; two of them are only invoked from a sandbox and should be deleted, while one seems to be used in articles. Didn't "fix" any of this, but will do if a similar problem occurs in articles I work on. Oceanh (talk) 02:11, 19 February 2008 (UTC).

[edit] Recent closes on MfD were a great help

Hey, thanks for taking on all those closes, things were getting pretty backlogged. I noticed you didn't post the {{oldmfd}} tag (or a personal note for userpages) on any of the talk pages and wondered if you hadn't gotten to it yet or had forgotten. I'd be more than happy to do it for you, I just want to make sure it's done (or consciously not done) before we move those discussions to closed/archives. Thanks again!--Doug.(talk contribs) 05:50, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

I was actually just too lazy to put these templates on the talk page, figured someone would do it anyways. The reason I do these for afd is because the oldafdfull template is already in the afd nomination template so you just have to copy and paste and everything is done. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 06:27, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
No problem, I'll take care of it - anytime, the closing (and especially the deletion) is the part I can't do. I just didn't want to step on any toes. Thanks one more time!--Doug.(talk contribs) 14:47, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Is there a regulation for such a behavior? Raffethefirst (talk) 18:09, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Not really, there is no hard rule which says you need to sign with four tiles, at least there isn't any that I can think of. It is the norm though, but there's nothing much we can do if he really doesn't like signing his posts. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 18:12, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Um, I can have the article restored and the AfD relisted if you wish. Or, you could recreate the article as well I suppose. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 03:19, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
As I had said, I just stumbled onto the two page online biography originally listed as a source, so it's my mistake for not posting an under construction tag (is that okay in an AfD situ?). Don't bother with any effort. Would rather spend my efforts on my watched pages. Thought I could save it. I'm learning AfD procedures this week, and so I'm bound to stumble onto a few things that don't go my way. Very much appreciate the offer. BusterD (talk) 03:33, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Julie Birch

Hi! Any particular reason you closed this as no consensus rather than relisting? I ask because there was a strong delete and the two weak keeps, which did not address the WP:BLP1E issue, which was the reason for my nomination. I'm curious because I'd rather not immediately re-list it if it can simply be relisted for consensus, as is done with most AfDs. Thanks! Travellingcari (talk) 03:31, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Compwhizii

Hey, I was wondering why you gave him rollback. His request was denied by myself and another admin, and it was archived. Turning around and giving it to him seems uncalled for. Justin(Gmail?)(u) 17:28, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

I did not meant to override your ruling or anything. There are several reasons behind my decision. First of all, I just simply have a very low standard for granting rollback, and I just think that he passes my standard. I think we should give him a second chance at it, since he did made diligent efforts at reverting vandalism. In fact, I have given rollback to users who have even less vandalism reversions than him who did not even know what rollback is. Secondly, I think there are some key benefits to using rollback that I think everybody who reverts vandalism should have. I personally used javascript reversion scripts before and even on broadband Internet connection it sometimes takes like, 40 seconds for the script to get page history, get the article data, and send the article data back to the server, etc when reverting a large page, while on the rollback it only takes like, 4 - 5 seconds to rollback a large page. Thirdly, rollback is something that can be easily revoked by ANY admin. If the user does something wacky with it again, it only takes 3 seconds to revoke it, but reverting vandalism is a lot of hard work even with the rollback tool. The effects of improper usage of rollback is not that hard to revert as well, and it is just about as risky as someone with TWINKLE really. In fact TWINKLE is even harder for admins to remove cause you have to deal with javascripts and remove the right script, and then you have to guess which skin the user is using in case if he isn't using monobook, etc. Overall, I think that the benefits that we can get out of this outweighs the concerns that were raised, I think the user learned his lesson, and it is time to trust him with the tool. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 19:21, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Ok, it's just that our reasons for not granting rollback were that the actions in question took place in the past two weeks. We felt it was kind of hard to judge whether he had truly learned something from it. He was cool with it, as well. Justin(Gmail?)(u) 19:48, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't say the consensus was "overrideen", it was just made as a redirect, and no the article hasn't been deleted, if you check the history things are still there. AfD is used as a place to gain consensus to delete, not to redirect or merge, so if there is no consensus, merge is still valid if there is a discussion or if no one wants to contest the merge or redirect. If you have a valid reason to challenge the redirect then go ahead, but use the article talk page and gain consensus from there. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 23:20, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks so much, --Pgagnon999 (talk) 21:08, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Tourism Queen International

Hi - on 18 Feb you closed this afd as "merge" but did not remove the templates from the article or place notices on the talk page. As the nominator I just thought I'd check out the articles and was pretty surprised that hadn't been done. Anyway, I can't really see what there is to be merge that is notable enough but not already on the Miss Tourism Queen International page (i.e. list of titleholders & venues). I'm going to be bold and simply redirect the three articles in the AFD to the main page. Should I assume this is ok? 203.173.153.99 (talk) 08:51, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Huggle User Category

Hi there. I have seen that you use huggle by the fact that you have automatically updated the huggle white list(it does this when closing huggle). I was wondering if you would add the category [[Category:Wikipedians who use Huggle]] to your user page so that it fills out and we know who actually uses huggle. If you do not want to you do not have to. I am also sorry if i have already talked to you about this or you no longer use huggle but i sent it to everyone that has edited the page since mid January. I hope we can start to fill out this category. If you would like to reply to this message then please reply on my talk page as i will probably not check here again. Thanks. ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 18:27, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Theta Nu Epsilon

It seems to me that Pgagnon999 is trying to encourage BlueGold74 to change the Theta Nu Epsilon article to include material that is either recklessly defamatory, libelous, or 'false light invasion'. I note this just so you are aware that the argument on that page has NOT stopped.

[edit] Fetish (band)

Does Fetish (band) look AFD-able? I'm sorta iffish on it . . . seems to just barely have enough notability but it seems to be in the gray area, at least to me. -WarthogDemon 00:10, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

There doesn't seem to be any WP:RS on the subject, but then again I only checked the internet, there may be offline sources avaliable, as none of the internet sources I found are considered reliable, which, so far it does not seem to be that the band has received significant coverage in reliable sources, which is the WP:N criteria. The AFD could go either way, depending on wether if good sources can be found, but I doubt the existing sources from google can be used. Yamamoto Ichiro 会話 00:19, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] REQUEST UNDELETION OF LARRY CUTRONE

Yamamoto, Your team deleted Larry Cutrone for what appears to be an unverifiable degree of notoriety. Listed below is a tribute to Larry Cutrone done by showbiz legend Clay Cole. Clay Cole was as influential as Dick Clark and Alan Freed in the history of rock and roll. The tribute which includes verification is on Clay Cole's website at: www.claycoleshow.com under Larry Cutrone. We have also listed just a few items of interest for our client. Please reconsider undeletion based on this new information you now possess. More information can be provided by Googling Larry Cutrone. Pages of interest will come up that lend credibility to our client. Thanks in advance, Management Team of Larry Cutrone (email) valleyvideo@earthlink.net

[edit] Need Mediator

To sum up the situation, on Zui Quan one user keeps on deleting an example under Television, and I keep undeleting it. He views it as trivia, and does not belong, even though it is in a list of trivia that he doesn't mind. I believe this example should remain above all else since it is the only thing in the article that is referenced. I believe without this reference, the article fails WP:RELIABLE and risks WP:AFD. Since we can't come to a conclusion, he asked me to call for a moderator to uphold, since if there is no consensus the reference will be kept by default. I am complying to uphold WP:CIVILITY. --MahaPanta (talk) 17:21, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Request for undelete: Mickey Fisher

Dear Mr. Ichiro, I would like to see what steps I need to take to have the article about US Martial Arts Pioneer Mickey Fisher undeleted. I believe the greatest concerns were about sourcing and I am confident that I can address them effectively but I admit to being somewhat of a novice in WIKIPEDIA and might need some basic explanation about how to effectively correct any errors. Thank you in advance for your consideration. Mickey McDermottMcder (talk) 20:18, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Emma Demar

Can you give me the content of this deleted article? I'd keep it off-wiki until the subject becomes notable. Thanks. --Howard the Duck 07:09, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Germano Sanna

I have deleted Elmsfire which you listed as a keep from this AfD. There were no sources cited, a quick search found none and they aren't even signed; they easily meet A7. If you disagree with this, restore it and let me know, I'll send it to AfD. J Milburn (talk) 20:35, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

I have no reason to disagree myself, but if anyone else does disagree, just restore it then and start another AfD. 山本一郎 (会話) 05:07, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD of Scott Schertzer

You closed the AfD for Scott Schertzer at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Scott Schertzer as delete. I recognize that the bulk of the comments called for deletion, but a lot of participants seemed to misunderstand policy. They cited WP:LOCAL which deals with things, not people. They seemed to think that the references from reliable sources (some newspaper articles) didn't matter because the city's population was under 50,000. But I think the biography, although a stub, passed the basic criterion of WP:BIO: "A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has been the subject of published secondary source material which is reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject." WP:BIO also says: "Just being an elected local official, or an unelected candidate for political office, does not guarantee notability, although such people can still be notable if they meet the primary notability criterion of "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject."" --Eastmain (talk) 00:27, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disworld's reading order gone

Hello! Why was Discworld's reading order deleted? I'm not sure, of course, as I cannot see it anymore, but I think there was a nice table on that page which showed all the novels grouped together in the way they are supposed to be read. I found it very useful when first found out about the author, and now I wanted to take a look again and it's gone! Its information cannot be found on the main article Discworld. :( --Knakts (talk) 19:06, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Theta Nu Epsilon, again

A person posting under JoshLevine has posted a personal attack on one person, and also tried to 'out' someone by their real name. [edit] Template:Infobox Japanese EMU can now be deleted

Hi. The Template:Infobox Japanese EMU template was nominated for deletion back in February to be succeeded by the standard Template:Infobox EMU. I have finally updated all articles that used this defunct template to the preferred Template:Infobox EMU, so you or another administrator can freely delete the old template. Sorry for taking so long! Thanks. --DAJF (talk) 13:05, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Changeling (Eberron)

Hello! :) In March, Changeling (Eberron) was nominated for deletion. At the time, there was no suitable page for this article to be redirected to, so based on the consensus, you deleted the article. I have created a new page, List of Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 edition monsters, which would be a proper destination to merge and/or redirect the article to. I'm wondering if it's possible to restore the original article, and turn it into a redirect, thus preserving the edit history? BOZ (talk) 19:49, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
