[edit] Wild Women

Yup, that was me.  :) That was originally a speedy delete due to lack of content and being little more than a placeholder for the IMDb link. It looks better, but it's still a bit stubby although certainly not a speedy at this point. Since you're still "trying things out" as you say, may I say "welcome to the club" and suggest that you look at other movie-related articles to get a feel for the style. For instance, you should have a cast and character list, more of a plot synopsis, perhaps a taxobox with basic info as well. The Wikipedia:Manual of style is a huge help. I'll be glad to help as well. Feel free to leave word on my talk page any time you'd like. I won't be near a computer this weekend, but I'll see any message you leave come Monday. Have a great weekend! - Lucky 6.9 14:03, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/India Today's top 10 colleges of India

Hi! This is not systematic bias. I am an Indian. I've nominated US lists for deletion as well. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Newsweek’s List of Top High Schools (2003), Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Newsweek's List of the 1,000 Top U.S. Schools and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Newsweek's List of the 1,000 Top U.S. Schools (2005). Could you please do a rethink on your vote. utcursch | talk 05:48, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for contacting me but my vote still stands. If you can cite an existing precedent that shows Wikipedia excludes these type of lists I may be willing to reconsider. Yamaguchi先生 07:37, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] AIV requests

Hi, I blocked the two IPs you recently listed. I have a request though: when you are leaving {{test}} notices on talk pages, could you please remember to sign your posts after each test warning, so that it's easy to confirm that an IP has continued to vandalize after having been warned? Thanks! MC MasterChef :: Leave a tip 08:23, 14 November 2005 (UTC)

Is it okay if I just put the time instead? I do not want to give those type of people my name. Yamaguchi先生 08:25, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
Sure, I think a five tilde ~~~~~ timestamp would be perfectly fine. Thanks! MC MasterChef :: Leave a tip 08:28, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
I mean no offense toward Asians, but I really have to ask: How many vandals do you think would be able to type "Yamaguchi先生" on their keyboards? For many users, it appears as "Yamaguchi" followed by two squares anyway. It looks like you are a new user, so I will give you a suggestion if you are concerned about this: you might consider setting your signature to something like:
<span class="plainlinks">[{{SERVER}}{{Localurl:User_talk:Yamaguchi先生|action=edit&section=new}} Yamaguchi先生]</span>
which would appear like this when you use "~~~~":
Yamaguchi先生 12:55, 13 June 2008
Click on it to see the difference. This setting can be found in the "Nickname:" box of Special:Preferences. Doing this would at least force the unsophisticated vandals to create a new section on your talk page rather than giving them easy access to vandalize it, or your user page.

[edit] Vandalism warnings

A cabal toaster
A cabal toaster

Hi, thank you for trying to improve the Wikipedia by removing vandalism and warning vandals. :D Normally we should only start with a test, test2, or test2a template for the first warning on someone, depending on how blatant their vandalism is. It's sorta biting newbies to start with a test3 or higher, unless they're doing something *really* stupid. Most vandals are simply newbies who are all like "omg i can edit this site? wtf were they thinking?!?!?!11". They might not even realize other people could see their edits. Then, instead of simply banning them on the first offense, we generally give them numerous warnings, and they think "Hey, these people are pretty cool. I screwed up their site and they didn't even ban me!". And maybe they'll be new contributers. :D Anyway, have a cabal toaster for your hard work. --Phroziac(talk) 15:31, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for the toaster and the advice. Yamaguchi先生 15:32, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks from myself as well for stopping the defacement at Patrick Henry College. I second Phroziac: I have reverted many edits by users such as those three and they usually stop after a couple of warnings. --DDerby-[[User talk:DDerby|<small>(talk)</small>]] 08:01, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

I see you're editting again. Maybe you can explain what "Yamaguchi" means... Thanx 68.39.174.238 01:38, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
It's a common Japanese family name, and it's a name of a Japanese town too. --Ichiro 01:43, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your VandalProof application

Thanks for applying to use VandalProof. Unfortunately, our software is not particularly good at recognising non-ascii characters. We have had issues in the past with such users, and in this case I am going to have to politely request that you register an alternative account (visit Special:Userlogin while still logged in so the account is recorded as a subsidiary of this one, and we cna prove it belongs to you), it would be sensible to do it with a similar name, in order to use the tool. We will of course consider edits from both accounts for the purposes of verification and other processes such as WP:RFA should be directed to the presence of contributions from both accounts. My apologies for the problems, and I hope that we can get you up and running with VandalProof soon. Thanks. —Xyrael / 21:03, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Although I have no problem myself with you striking out your name from the holds section, for technical reasons it's probably best if you ask a moderator to do it. I'm not sure if it applies to that page, but on another VP does some strange stuff to recognise who cna edit it. I'm not criticisng you though, just letting you know that there is a better option :) Thanks, I'll go approve your app now. —Xyrael / 19:28, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Thank you Xyrael, please remove my strikethrough if it might cause any technical problems. Yamaguchi先生 19:32, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pending deletion of Greg Bravo (Gary Scott)

*Articles for deletion. I invite you to review your vote for deletion on the Greg Bravo (Gary Scott) article again (proposed on 6/19), as official and reliable proof that can be actually be verified and not "talked about" has been provided. Apparently the user that calls himself Fortheloveofhampsters has a vendetta against the subject of the article and has been suspected of being a sockpupett according to the history tabs of article and its related talk page! He is now attacking the related article of Steam (band) in the same manner. Of course, everyone has the right to edit, but must also provide reliable and verifiable sources and maintain a Neutral Point of View according to official Wikipedia policy. Apparently, the user who may be one of more of those who are voting for deletion are definitely not neutral and do not play by all the rules. Does anyone enforce them even-handedly?

I would not like to see this site become a blog, as some have called it, and would like to continue my contributions. Is the only way to set the record straight to form coalitions and posses like America was run in the days of the "Wild West". Seems to me even then, there were at least some rules to abide by that were actually enforced and not totally ignored by those in charge.

Can you at least provide some guidance to me? So far, logical arguments and intelligence in accordance with the (sporadically enforced) rules of Wikipedia do not seem to be effective. --Countdewiki 04:41, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Well as I have stated on the deletion page this article is in dire need of reliable sources to be kept, otherwise it is not verifiable and gives the appearance of being a hoax. Yamaguchi先生 18:10, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Armando Lloréns-Sar

Why are you restoring content designed to harrass and attack the subject? Whether the article should exist or not is a matter for AFD. But that is no justification for restoring attacking content. Most people who have not voted to delete have voted to merge. Why do you want to overturn the majority opinion, let alone restoring content meant to threaten the livelihood of the subject? Guettarda 03:52, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Please allow the discussion to complete, as I have requested in my edit summary. The article content is completely neutral in tone, based upon facts from reliable sources, and is not even remotely an attack page. Your implication that a majority wants this to be redirected is unfounded, as the number of those who have expressed their will to keep it equals that of those who wish to see it merged somewhere else, while those who have requested it be deleted are in the minority. Thank you, Yamaguchi先生 06:53, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
How is it not an attack page when it was created and used to out the subject and threaten his livelihood? Why do you believe that Wikipedia should be used for harrassment? And how does one version or another "allow for discussion"? People who don't know what a page history is probably aren't familar enough with Wikipedia to participate in policy discussions. Guettarda 13:38, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Nothing within the text is of an attack-type nature, and I am not sure what policy discussion you are referring to. Can you try to explain this to me in a calm manner? For example, if the subject goes on National Public Radio's Morning Edition and other major radio broadcasts and identifies himself as attorney Armando Lloréns of Daily KOS, and then it is cited and written about at Wikipedia, how does this threaten the livelihood of that person? I honestly do not understand. Yamaguchi先生 17:05, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Username suggestion

Thank you for your concern, but this is my name and I have no intentions of changing it. You will find that many long term contributors to Wikipedia have names which contain non-Latin characters. Yamaguchi先生 20:42, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Power Glove

On the Power Glove article you entered an unreferenced tag. Could you please be more specific over what part you wish to have referenced? The Powerglove is a pop-culture icon and as such; statements in the article may be difficult to source because they are considered verifyable popular/common knowledge - Wikipedia:Common knowledge. So please specify the segment you think is needing of referencing. - Roidroid 06:45, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Most of what is contained in the article is not common knowledge at all. The Power Glove may not have been as large a commercial failure as the R.O.B., but simply attaining pop-culture status does not excuse us from citing sources within any given article. Since you disagree with a general {{unreferenced}} template, I will be providing citation needed tags where it is appropriate. Yamaguchi先生 22:05, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Thank you, the individual citation tags are much more helpful Roidroid 07:19, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:UW

Hi Yamaguchi先生,

I see looking at the WikiProject user warnings page, that you have recently become a participant in this project. To bring you up to speed, I have recently started an undertaking to harmonise all user page warnings and templates. For this I would like your assistance. I have listed a number of ideas on the project template page here as a first draft. I fully appreciate that as with most editors and admins, that you are fairly busy. Therefore I am not looking for anyone to carry out the actual work, I am willing to do that myself, with help from a number of other RC Patrollers who have come forward. But what I am looking for is your invaluable input, on the draft ideas and also to suggest other ways you believe we may improve the templates. I do however require the services of a couple of administrators to put into effect some of the new templates, as they are currently protected. Please take 5 mins to look through the new templates page, and both the project and templates talk pages and leave any ideas or suggestions that you may have. [edit] Image:Dat Phan.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Dat Phan.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. [edit] Paul McCarthy

I read your comment in the Paul McCarthy deletion discussion. I do hope you will take the time to find the sources that you mention. The AfD discussion seemed terribly one-sided (and very quick) given the lack of sources. --Bejnar 19:38, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

If by one-sided you mean unanimous, then yes. There are sources now so I believe this matter can be closed. Yamaguchi先生 03:44, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your help on the Chinese American Food Society article. You will happy to know that the article was saved from deletion. I really appreciated your help on this. Chris 18:28, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rebecca Cummings AfD

Yamaguchi??, You participated in the first AfD discussion for the Rebecca Cummings article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rebecca Cummings. The decision was keep but it has been nominated for deletion a second time. I thought you may be interested in participating in the discussion that is going on at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rebecca Cummings (2nd nomination). Thanks in advance. --HeartThrobs 01:30, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My RFA

You supported my candidacy in my recently completed request for adminship. The debated ended 40/4/1 and I'm now an administrator. I'd just like to say thanks for taking the time to consider me, and thanks for the confidence in me. I hope your confidence in me proves to be justified.

Regards, WilyD

[edit] Please reconsider your opinion

Hi, A large number of improvements have been made to the Alton C. Crews Middle School article since you voted. Please take another look and reconsider. Thanks! Noroton 21:53, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fleetwood Mac#Fleetwood Mac (white album)

Hey there...Just a heads up... I re-added the link to The Beatles (album) which you had removed. I don't disagree with your edit, however for potential confusion between these two album's names, I thought the link was necessary. I reworded the text for clarity. I trust that you will find this ok. Thanks for your attention to this page. SteinAlive | | 06:58, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. After going through the history, I see that I was mistaken. Here's to late nights on wikiP and, well, what I shall call brain freeze... My mistake. I apologize for wasting your time. Thanks again for letting me know so that I can let the other editors User:The Person Who Is Strange (who posted) and User:Mwalimu59 (who deleted) know. SteinAlive | | 08:31, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Dominionism

Hi Yamaguchi. The Template:Dominionism TfD, on which you commented, has been closed with no consensus (default to keep). Although the TfD debate touched on several issues regarding the form the infobox should now take, much seems unresolved. I invite you to participate in further discussion on this topic. Thank you. --BlueMoonlet (t/c) 05:32, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Wild_Women_of_Wongo.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Wild_Women_of_Wongo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 01:42, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
