Yala, Kenya

Yala is a rural town in the Nyanza Province of Western Kenya, 30 kilometres Northwest of Kisumu. It has a population of 25,769 (including villages), of whom just 2.438 live at the town itself (as of 1999) [1]. Yala is one of four divisions of the Siaya District. Within the area are the Yala River and the ecologically critical Yala Swamp.
