Talk:Yale Precision Marching Band

Wasn't there a "salute to abortion" at one half-time, in which the band formed a giant coathanger and played "You must have been a beautiful baby"? At one time, wasn't a cellist part of the marching band? - Nunh-huh 18:56, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
Yikes. Dunno about the first, but I'm almost sure there was a cellist.Bbpen 19:02, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
Oh totally cellists. We currently have a bunch of electric guitars, two violins, and two weird keyboard instruments that you blow into (I forget the name!). The abortion thing is totally possible. I know some alums claim that we're not as controversial now as we used to be. --Veggiesattva 20:00, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, I definitely remember there being a "salute to abortion" show; though I don't know any of the details. Please check out the new revisions I made, I believe most of them are correct but there might be some errors with older uberprops. - --Talos726 20:16, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
It may have been the same half-time in which the band formed a penis and marched into a giant condom. Surely the Yale Daily News must have mentioned it? - Nunh-huh 20:22, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
I was in the YPMB 1976-1980. What was most notable about the pants-dropping stunt at Brown was that the game was televised. There was a cello in the band at that time--he had a wheel on the spike that comes from the bottom of the cello. I recall that his name was Matthew Gold (or maybe Golden). I don't recall that the band formed a "penis" on the field, but it often formed long tubular objects (like Castro's cigar) that might have been somewhat suggestive. One I recall was a "tennis racket" and two "tennis balls" that transformed into a female symbol to salute Renee Richards, the female tennis player who was formally a male Yalie. The halftime shows were substantially toned down after the Yale Bands changed directors in 1980 or 1981.

What the heck is an "x-out"? 216.68.185.117 (talk) 02:26, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
