[edit] Copyright vio in photo: Image:Google-mini.jpg
When I saw how you uploaded your image as a logo. I used it as an example how to upload mine. They were declared not logo's. Since I used your photo as an example. I took the step to update your photo to what I believe to be the proper tag, to try to prevent the photo from being deleted. I hope this infomation helps. Please have a look at your photo to be sure you agree with the tag I used an attempt to help you: Image:Google-mini.jpg --akc9000 (talk • contribs • count) 13:26, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

- I changed it back. The way that it was categorized marked it for deletion. I also clarified the fair use rational.
[edit] WP:CVU status
The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:GSA.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:GSA.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:05, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Google-mini.jpg
Image:Google-mini.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Your Media copyright question
The problem is that the images didn't include a fair use rationale. A fair use rationale needs to explain, at minimum:
- what article(s) the image is being used in,
- what essential purpose the image fulfills as part of said article(s),
- why the image cannot be replaced by a free image.
Probably the easiest way to fill in such a rationale is to use this template. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 21:15, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- I had one, and someone else removed it.
- Is there a way to see the diff on images?

- The closest thing to a fair use rationale there ever appears to have been on the image was "This image is from a Google press release Google Product Images", which doesn't address any of the points I listed. There does seem to have been a bit of an edit war over the appropriate tag to apply - you seemed to favour {{Computer hardware logo}} while User:Akc9000 preferred {{Non-free promotional}}, but that dispute was immaterial to the reasons for deletion; regardless of the tag selected, a fair use rationale was still required, and none was present.
