[edit] Music video
On January 16, 2008, the video for "Yahhh!" premiered on BET Access Granted[citation needed]. The video features people trying to get Soulja Boy's autograph, including Dog the Bounty Hunter and a blonde imitation of Britney Spears, who appears to be intoxicated.
After the main "Yahhh!" video, a short clip of Soulja Boy's song "Report Card" plays and features Soulja Boy, Arab and others dancing to the song at a school. The song samples "Throw Some D's" by Rich Boy featuring Polow Da Don.
The original version of "Yahhh!" actually has the verse "Yahhh, Bitch, Yahhh!", the clean/edited version has the verse edited into "Yahhh, Trick, Yahhh!". It was recorded on FL Studio about a year prior to Soulja Boy and Arab's signing to Collipark Records. Some lyrics are different, such as when Soulja Boy and Arab talk about the new CD by the 30/30 Boyz, their group before signing to Collipark Records. The original lyrics also say "Get out my face hoe" and the clean/edited version just says "Get out my face." It was leaked in Summer of 2006.
[edit] Critical reception
Alex Fletcher of Digital Spy gave the song one star out of five, and wrote, "Based around Soulja and pal Arab screaming incomprehensible gibberish, the repeated line "Yahhh, Trick, Yahhh!" is more irritating than a life's supply of itching powder, while the bargain bucket synth soundtrack sounds like an old Nokia ringtone."[1] Jeff Weiss of LA Weekly wrote that it was a "legitimate attempt to dethrone 'My Humps' for its ignominious distinction as dumbest song ever recorded."[2]Jennifer Coxley of AngryApe.com wrote that it was "more dumbed down hip-hop for the masses."[3]
