Yadavindra Public School, is located in Patiala, Punjab India.

Considered among the top rung of Indian Public Schools, Yadavindra Public School, Patiala is a boarding-cum-day school founded by the late Maharaja Yadavindra Singh, father of former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.

Following partition, many families found themselves separated from YPS's sister school Aitchison College Lahore. Therefore, Yadavindra Singh started the school primarily for these displaced families. In essence, it is Aitchison's sister school and the two share a common old student link with the AYOSA (Aitchison Yadavindrian Old Students Association).

This school is a member of the Indian Public Schools' Conference and is affiliated to CISCE. Yadavindra Public School, Mohali is a recent branch of this school.

YPS offers an all-round education to its students. Apart from its magnificent stadium (built for the proposed Commonwealth games in 1938), this co-educational school has a 25 metre swimming pool for its students, 3 lush full size grounds for hockey and football, a main cricket field and a couple of horse riding grounds as well. In addition to this, there are other sporting facilities in the form of basketball, badminton and tennis courts. Table Tennis too, is reasonably popular. The school also owns several well-bred horses and horse riding is constantly increasing in popularity.

The school's main sports remain Cricket and Hockey though tennis reached an extremely high level during Mr R.P.Devgan's tenure as principal. Fuelled by two modern synthetic hardcourts and a dynamic coach, the YPS tennis team competed yearly at the IPSC tennis tournament as well as other championships.

The Punjab cadre IAS officers from YPS Patiala include Rajan Kashyap (now retired), KBS Sidhu, Anirudh Tewari and Tejvir Singh (YPS Mohali). The present DGP Punjab, NPS Aulakh and DIG Dinkar Gupta, IPS are also old Yadavindrians, as indeed is Shri Pawan Bansal, the sitting MP from Chandigarh and the Union Minister of State for Finance.

YPS has also given rise to many famous cricket players, including Navjot Sidhu, Reetinder Sodhi, and the late Dhruv Pandove.Of late, the school has seen an increase in extra curricular activities including music and drama. Over the past few years, the library has seen a controlled expansion of its books and now boasts access to an eclectic source of reference books, journals and magazines.

The school's annual day is celebrated in February and is usually companied by exhibitions and performances by the children. It's key strength is its relatively lower fees as compared with other boarding schools in its genre. Past principals include Col. Goldstein, H.N. Kashyap, Harish Dhillon, Pramod Sharma and Ajit Jawanda.

Past students of the school are referred to as OY's and the association has seen a renewed drive to remain more connected.
