Yılmaz Erdoğan

Yılmaz Erdoğan (b. 1967 Hakkari, Turkey) is a Turkish film director, scenarist, poet and actor from Turkey of Kurdish ethnicity.

Kurdish director Yılmaz Erdoğan was born in Hakkari, Turkey in 1968. Having spent his childhood in Ankara, he moved to Istanbul along with his family. In 1987, he dropped out of the civil engineering at Istanbul Technical University and took part in On Duty Theater Staff managed by Ferhan Şensoy. In the year 1988, he founded Güldüşündürü Theater and put on stage "Kanuni Sultan Süleyman ve Rambo" (English: Suleiman the Magnificent and Rambo) written and directed by him. Gülben Ergen is his sister-in-law. (UPDATED)
