Xylokastro (Greek:, Modern: Ξυλόκαστρο, Ancient: Xylokastron, Ξυλόκαστρον Greek word meaning wooden castle) is a city that is 40 km W of Corinth via GR-8, which is also E65. Its interchange is about 1.5 km W, west of the river. The population is around 11,000 and there is a nearby interchange southwest of the city. The city has a river named Sythas to its west and a mountain to its south and southwest. The town offers a beautiful beach. Agriculture surrounds the city. The town was known as Viladusa by the Venetians in the mid to late 2nd millennium. The community has a small school, a church, a police station, a post office, banks, a volleyball arena, and a square(plateia). It is famous as a seaside tourist spot and are well equipped with a number of hotels like Hotel Fadira , etc. Its nearest communications tower is on a mountain southwest of town (about 6 km)
