From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Please note that there are several conventions regarding the naming of Wikipedia articles, which you should bear in mind when moving pages such as Friends (TV series). The general principle regarding the names of Wikipedia pages is expressed thus:

Generally, article naming should give priority to what the majority of English speakers would most easily recognize, with a reasonable minimum of ambiguity, while at the same time making linking to those articles easy and second nature.

or, alternatively:

Names of Wikipedia articles should be optimized for readers over editors; and for a general audience over specialists.

Several specific guidelines regarding naming of pages (by topic, by title characteristic,...) are listed on this page: Wikipedia:Naming conventions, and in this category: Category:Wikipedia naming conventions.

Additionally, technical guidance regarding Wikipedia page names can be found in: Help:Page name. Related guidance, regarding what happens when two different names should refer to the same article, or when a single name refers to several meanings that each deserve their own article can be found in Wikipedia:Redirect and Wikipedia:Disambiguation. How and when to include a namespace qualifier in a page name is explained in Wikipedia:Namespace.

Guidance on changing page names can be found in: Help:Moving a page. When you're not sure whether renaming a page is appropriate or desirable, please consult Wikipedia:Requested moves. Thanks for collaborating! ~~ Peteb16 23:24, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ōkami article move

Before renaming or moving a Wikipedia article, as you did with Ōkami, please use the article's Talk page to discuss whether or not the Wikipedia community agrees with the move; otherwise this can trigger edit wars, break article links, or cause other problems. Please keep in mind that Wikipedia has guidelines to help identify how an article should be named; if you are unsure whether or not to perform a page name, please consult Wikipedia:Requested moves for further help. [edit] TÉLÉTOON

Hey, stop redirecting TÉLÉTOON (Canada) to teletoon (Canada), the officially network and spelling is all in caps, check the web site. MusiMax 01:40, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your moving of articles

Please stop moving articles without obtaining community consensus. As per the above commentators, I would advise you to read Wikipedia:naming conventions, as moving articles without consensus creates double redirects, and difficulty for the editors of those articles. Wikipedia encourages users to edit, but your account appears to be used to move article names. Bob talk 23:37, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Teletoon

Hey Xylit, but the thing with lost is that its official name is not spelled all in caps, TELETOON is, its clear from its web site and corporate info that it is spelled all in caps. MusiMax 19:01, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Law and Order Episodes and copyright violation

I noticed you have edited some of the Law and Order pages I've made to correct possible copryright violations. I'm relatively new to Wikipedia, so I've accepted that I might have done something unintentionally. From what I can tell, the issues have been taking the episode descriptions from other websites. I've know I copied the text directly over, but cited the reference. If that's not ok, then fine, but I would like to know so that I don't keep making the same mistake in the future. Thanks,
