Xuantu Commandery (Chinese:) is one of Four Commanderies of Han (Han Dynasty). It was established in 107 B.C. after a conflict between Wiman Joseon and the Book of Han records there holds 3 prefectures, 45,006 households, population of 221,845.[1] The administration area gradually shrunk toward the west. The territory on the Blue Sea (Sea of Japan, a counterpart of the Yellow Sea) was lost by 75 BCE due to the pressure from Dongye and the capital was moved from Okjeo prefecture (Hamhung) to Xuantu castle in Goguryeo prefecture (Ji'an, Jilin) that later became the Wandu castle of Goguryeo. Later Han lost the original territory of Xuantu Corridor and retreated to Liaodong Peninsula by 107 AD. Goguryeo rose from this region (37 BCE-668) and declared secession from the administration of Jin Dynasty (265–420) and finally conquered it in 302 AD.[citation needed]
